Went over Via the Ferry from the cruise port which was very convenient. BE AWARE~~~ Closed on Saturdays! (WTH?) loungers and chairs were all locked up, and what we did see locked up were broken and filthy. Only one place open to get something to eat, and that (see review) was a disappointment.

There's a little confusion here. Anse d'Arlet is the town in the photo with the quaint steeple. Grand Anse is the next cove up. It's pretty, but slightly more commercial. Of course, it's all relative in Martinique where nothing is truly commercial. Basically, all of the towns are small, and few are truly geared for tourism the way other Caribbean islands are. If you like no frills experiences that are equal parts adventure, Martinique is an amazing place. A stop at Anse d'Arlet will be high on your list of favorite places on the island. The key is to take it slow, let your guard down, and absorb the amazing vibes.

As some others have mentioned, there are two spots. Anse d’Arlet and Grande Anse d’Arlet. This review is for Anse d’Arlet.
This relaxing town’s beautiful and tranquil beach and crystal clear water alone is enough to merit a visit during your stay in Martinique. Then throw in the superb snorkeling and you have a must visit instead! We actually missed this part when researching our places to visit so this came as a pleasant surprise for us. You just need to go out a little bit where you see the collection of buoys.
There are a number of places to buy food and beverages. I don’t remember seeing any place to rent chairs and umbrellas. There is some shade here and there so you may want to bring your own especially on a day when it might get crowded. We were there on a weekday during low season so we were okay.
Parking is available, with a number of spots right next to the beach. Take the last right at the beach and you will find a lot with space for around 15 cars or so.
While you are there, have a look inside St.Henry’s church, it’s worth a quick visit. You can also get some nice photos from the pier right out front.

As it seems many beaches on the south of Martinique are, this was a fairly long, narrow beach. It was decently crowded at the very beginning of high season on a Sunday, so it might get really busy later. The water was great, though there were a ton of boats anchored nearby (some with people and some just anchored). The waves were much more manageable than the waves at Le Diamant.
There were two main areas where people seemed to crowd. One was younger, with drinking and loud music, while the other was a bit more family-friendly. The middle areas were low-key, but didn't have a lot of space. The water was clean and clear and lovely. The view of sunset was beautiful.
Parking was absolutely terrible - roads get closed to incoming traffic, and really narrow roads had parked cars plus two way traffic. It was crazy trying to get out after sunset, but there was a little parking area we found partway through the city.

Conflicted in writing this because, I want to tell everyone they should go visit it but hope they don't go, keep it quaint and small. I absolutely fell in love with this beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. the Water was perfect, the town was beautiful, the surrounding hills were perfect. a few 50 yards out is an awesome reef to go snorkeling, tons of fish to look at and places to stand for the not so good swimmers.
I would highly recommend to visit it.

In water that is only 3 feet deep, there are so many different types of fish, as well as sea urchins and anemones. We were actually staying at the aparthotel on the beach - Oukae - and the snorkeling straight out from there and Ti Payot (beach bar/restaurant) is so varied! The water is very calm, and really clear. As you enter the water, go past the little bit of sand, and in the very first lane of rocks running the entire length of the beach is a whole lot of fish life. Everything's small, but you can see coronet fish, peacock flounders, squirrel fish, wrasse, butterfly fish and many others (even a juvenile French angelfish!); along with anemones of the usual kind as well as corkscrew; nudibranchs, bristleworms, Christmas tree worms, feather dusters, arrow crab and we even saw a spotted eel!
We went to a few other beaches on the southern part of the island, but no others had the combination of calm, clear water, easy swimming and snorkeling, and scattered areas of shade. There are no public restrooms or showers (that I'm aware of - our hotel was right on the beach), but there's plenty of close parking on the north end. Take the very first road (right) you can turn on when coming from the north, and keep driving back until you get to the big field on the right. There are a few restaurants/bars right on the beach. Weekends are definitely more crowded.

We were a family of 4 looking for a nice beach experience with snorkeling, good food options and a place for the kids to play. This beach has it all. The snorkeling is best right of the pier and there is even a section roped off. If you have children it is a great place to start and for those that are good swimmers you can go further out to the right to see the turtles.

A lot of reviews of the small towns in this area focus on the beaches and activities in the water, but we found that Grand Anse d'Arlet was simply a beautiful little town to stop at. The view of the church from the end of the pier is stunning, and there are many other interesting homes here. We didn't stop here for long, but are glad we did.

We stopped at Grand Anse while touring Martinique. Our guide pointed out the area for the best snorkeling. The beach isn't very wide but there was ample room for us to leave our shoes, cover ups, etc. After a short swim in perfectly clear water, we found great snorkeling with a huge number and variety of fish.
The beach has a restroom/changing facilities and there are a number of restaurants/bars.

le mieux est de prendre la navette qui vous emmène aux 3 ilets. Là demandez Mike, il vous emmènera en catamaran contre 80€ pour votre journée (et le repas ) passée sur mer avec lui.
