The staff member gave our group a lot of information about the island of Vieques and the wildlife issues there. He also described the programs they are doing to education young people on the island about care of the environment and wildlife. He then lead us on a wonderful hike to a place with spectacular views of the ocean, cliffs... More

This is a beautiful tranquil spot. You have to do a little hiking to check out the different areas. It is worth a look

We visited several of the beaches, such as the Blue beach, La Plata and Pata Prieta. All were great with clear waters and great snorkeling. Most of the coral reefs were easily accessed from the beach which made it easy even for the kids to reach them. I really recommend a visit to the area.

Variety of beaches, each a bit different. Mangroves were interesting too. Mongoose, who knew? Having a Jeep was helpful for the road conditions.

I saw wild horses, but they're a dime a dozen in Vieques. The real treat here are the beaches. This is the Caribbean alright; white beaches, crystral-clear, warm, aqua-green water, palm trees, little coves to make out in, rocks, fish – everything. Every beach is breath-taking in its own right. We found a mostly private beach here and just wasted... More

In Vieques the animals are everywhere and plentiful but, no where more than the refuge. Look for lizards and iguana's plus wild horses and roosters.

Access to some of the best beaches in the caribbean. No beach bars, chairs, hotels or houses. Very pretty selection of wild beaches. Also good areas for scuba, snorkeling and kayak fishing (recommend Nena Scuba for former and Bieque Eco Travel - Eric - for latter).

Access to some of the best beaches on Vieques are here in the National Wildlife Refuge....also access to the Fero Lighthouse. The first Kilometer is paved with about 12 speedbumps...speed limit 25 mph. Road ends at Playa Plata about 4 kilometers in. Lots of horses roaming around. Look for mongoose and iguanas...also large termite homes. It is a crying shame... More

This is the absolute best part about Vieques. Rent yourself a jeep and find your own private beach! My girlfriend and I only had to drive around for about 10 minutes before finding our own private beach, we camped out with a cooler and some snacks and just hung there the whole day! It's like your own little world!

After having an amazing beach day at Sun Bay, we moved to the refuge to explore the area and at night visit Mosquito Bay (bioluminiscent bay). In the refuge we enjoy of a virgin environment, that resulted so relaxing and like a parenthesis from the outter world.
