Vieques has no shortage of great beaches, and Green Beach is no exception. Great for lazing on the beach and swimming. Snorkeling is good, but the biting flies will tear you up, even with bug repellent.

Punta Arenas or Green Beach is at the western most end of the island. It's a bit of a drive over some rough roads but definitely worth the trip. SUV'S no problem, may be difficult with a low vehicle/car. Take Route 200 past Mosquito Pier and follow the signs to Punta Arenas/Green Beach. You'll drive quite a way, pass the... More

Nice beach, and easy acess for snorkeling. Snorkle to the right for Turtles in the grass and left over the reef for rays, and an array of tropical fish including cuttle fish, and cool trunk fish. It is a 15 or 20 minute drive, but that in itself is an adventure passing all the horses, and definitely worth it if... More

The sand is a coarser than the other Vieques beaches, but the views and isolation are amazing. This is also a great snorkeling spot. We went for hours and saw some great fish as well as a friendly sea turtle that entertained us for a while. Don't go to this beach without snorkel gear.

We took our morning adventure to Green Beach - it was so beautiful and peaceful - very quiet. We were hoping to go back to snorkel, but there were so many places to snorkel that we didn't get back there. Road through the Wildlife Refuge to the beach is best with 4 wheel drive.

After spending a week on Vieques, snorkeling all the spots, our whole family agreed Punta Arenas (Green Beach) is the best. The water was calm, so it made for easy access for our children. We saw tons of tropical fish, a sea turtle, conch, puffer fish, and even an octopus. Although the beach is isolated, it is a must visit.... More

We love snorkeling here and always see a great variety of sea life. Head out straight from the beach then turn left toward the rocks and go along the rocks until you get to the next beach.

Gorgeous beach. The snorkeling was good - a ray, hundreds of conch leaving sand trails on the ocean floor, sometimes turtles. It's on the west end so it's protected from the east trade winds.

I don't think many people get out to Punta Arenas and/or locals try to keep it a secret. It is a long drive from the towns and the last part of the trip gets bumpy, however, it is entirely worth the drive. The beach is small, with the treeline very near the water, but the water is crystal clear. Just... More

People talked about it like it was so far - 15 minute drive... and said the bugs were awful - not when I was there... secluded and gorgeous... bring a snorkel and just go.
