Great little town, petty male motorcycle cop, tsll with mustache and dour face.

The town has two markets, lots of eateries, shops and a few worthwhile galleries, plus themferry fromthe main island arrives here. Great fresh seafood down at the pier for... read more

This town was okay. It seemed very Americanized. We got there at about 4 p.m. and encountered a rude American lady who was clearly from the Northeast and owned a little shop that we were hoping to get a snack in. She explained to us that lots of things on the island close at this time and would not open... More

The town has two markets, lots of eateries, shops and a few worthwhile galleries, plus themferry fromthe main island arrives here. Great fresh seafood down at the pier for sale. Parked in a place just vacated in an area where imaginative parking, , due to cramped streets and limited parking , was in short supply. cAme back to find a... More

Esperanza is hip but Isabel seemed more authentic to me. In Esperanza there are bars/restaurants, one or two gift shops and kayak rental places--more of a tourist strip. Isabel is a town with much more. We stayed in Esperanza but I would stay in Isabel next time. I should say that I am one who often prefers the less "in"... More

If you are searching for the local spirit, you definitely will find it there. Polite and helpful people, few small shops, art gallery and a good ocean facing bars.

We booked an airbnb here instead of the other side of the island. This is a fairly quiet town with not a lot going on most of the time. But it has a much less "touristy" vibe than Esperanza. There are several convenience stores and a larger grocery store in the town center - but it's worth the trip to... More

This is the less touristy city on the island and we really enjoyed it. Don't miss shopping at the Funky Beehive, it's a fun store with beautiful swim cover ups, hats, jewelry, and other beach wear. The VQS Emporium across from Al's Mar Azul is another great place to shop. The emporium has a small basic food section, cooking ware,... More

This is where the locals of Vieques are, don't be afraid to venture from Esperanza and walk these streets. Fun restaurants and shops.

Kind of a grungy port town, not much fun happening. main attractions are two grocery stores; more modern one on the highway as you are leaving town going west.

Very nice authentic Caribbean town. Several bars and restaurants to go to serving local food. Try El Yate, Al's (great deck to catch the sunset!), Biekes Bistro (best food in town!). Very nice people. This is where the ferry arrives.
