We stumbled upon this beautiful culture center as we were weaving through the closed down shops of Ponce. We traveled to Ponce to shop around and much to our dismay most everything is closed on Sundays. Fortunately though we came upon this beautiful Pink Mansion in the midst of it all.
We were lucky to meet the resident Artist Harvey Santos who splits his time between Puerto Rico and Orlando, Florida. He is kind and very generous with his time. They were preparing for an exhibit opening for his protege Edwin whom we also met.
The Artwork is breathtaking and real. One is able to stroll around the museum with Harvey happily strolling alongside explaining the works and history. He is very proud and passionate about the survival of this center and we don't blame him. It is filled with the creative History of Puerto Rico. We stayed and spoke to most everyone there and were presented an invite to the exhibit opening. How gracious and generous the artists are. We were sad to have been leaving before the exhibit opening. Do not miss these beautiful pieces of art. And don"t forget Mr. Santos' work is available for purchase.

We found this gem in Ponce, PR. Centro cultural Carmen sola de Pereira. Paintings were so beautiful my husband and I couldn’t contain ourselves so we bought a few. Harry Santos was very charming and took the time to explain the meaning behind every painting we bought

Centro Cultural Carmen Sola de Pereira is difficult to describe. It's part art gallery as it shows works by local artists. It's part art training center since there were artist on the front gallery painting and taking lessons. It's part cultural center.
It's a block or so from Parque de Bomba (fire station). The building is just beautiful. The employees are so very nice and will gladly answer any questions.
We didn't spend much time here, but we enjoyed our time here and learned something. Please stop by when visiting Ponce. This is a hidden gem

Right in the heart of Ponce, the cultural center has fresh, local, contemporary art work. Anairis Torres, the director, is always there to answer any questions and to provide a brief explanation of the center’s mission and goals. Local artists also talk about their work as the work on their creations. The main goal is to ensure anyone who visits learn something about art. You can also rent the place for expositions and other activities. Parking is a bit tight to get, but there are several public parking adjacent to other nearby attractions, such as the Ponce square, and the local historic theater. Come and enjoy a piece of art in the center of a rich of culture city! Enjoy.

You can tell there's a lot of love for the arts and the community here. The people here do a great work to maintain the local art, culture and traditions. The place is located in one of the most important streets of Ponce, Calle Cristiana, between two of our most important buildings: Teatro de la Perla and Parque de Bombas.
