Well done. Peaceful. Except explanation of work done. QR codes by items to explain remodeling and history. Excellent! My husband is a senior architect and he was highly impressed too.

Enjoyed the colonial Spanish arqutecture. Tasty food. Lots of deep fried foods with funy names full of flavor. Lots of clubs for drinking. Lots of people in the streets. Loved the Paseo de la Princesa that took me all the way to El Morro on the outside. Breath taking views. Be ware is a dead end when you reach the sea side cementery. You have to go back the same way. If you visit el morro on the inside, the same ticket can be used to enter the San Cristobal Castle in calle San Francisco and Norzagaray. La Placita de Santurce is great for live street music. It comes alive at night. You can dance al listen to salsa, drink and dine. I gave it 4 stars because the streets are narrow and only residents can park after six pm in the streets without risking being fined. Parking very expensive.. Fellas garage was the cheapest for 35.00 x day.

What it lacks in grandiosity it makes up for in age: the Iglesia de San José is the second-oldest church in the Americas, after the cathedral in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
it was the resting place of Juan Ponce de León (the first governor of Puerto Rico) for 350 years.

It remains the final resting place of José Campeche, one of Puerto Rico's most revered artists. Since 2003, the church has been under works for preservation, and it was named one of the US' most endangered sites due to its deterioration.

After years of restoring, work is all done. Entrance is free, just donations. Clean and spacious. Should be noted, this is an active church.

Beautiful small church in Old San Juan. If you are bar hopping, take a moment to visit this church. I got great photos of the ceiling and altar. They also have some beautiful stained glass art.

This church is very easy to find in Old San Juan and while it has a simple exterior, is absolutely lovely on the inside. They have done their best to maintain the original parts of it, right down to the old frescos. I also liked the small area of preserved tiles I find on the threshold of a blocked off doorway. A definite must.

Unfortunately this church was closed for renovations while we were visiting but still worth the short walk to get here. Located near the Ponce de Leon statue, there is some history here which is partially spelled out by some of the perimeter signage.

Currently renovating, but one can still enjoy the beauty of the church's exterior. This old church is large- also, there are markers describing its history and renovation process
