About
Lined with swanky resorts and high-rise hotels, this large beach is a popular spot in San Juan, loved for its vibrant scene, lively dining, and endless array of things to do. While swimming isn't encouraged (powerful rip tides are common here), you can still lounge by the beach and watch surfers, boogie boarders, and parasailers ride the currents. There are also recreational areas like Ventana al Mar where you can take part in an outdoor yoga session or some aqua fitness.
Drop by the beach on a city tour of San Juan, which often includes a stop here.

- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia17,648 contributionsBe very, very cautiousOur first two days in PR we stayed at a small hotel on Condado beach, right by the Marriot hotel. The Condado beach is very beautiful, stretching for miles with soft golden fine sand. Water is clean with a very pleasant temp, inviting you to dip in. But beware, you wont be swimming, but fighting with waves and currents. Like many others said it is very dangerous. Rip currents are EXTREMELY strong dragging you away from shore. I'm a good swimmer and like big waves, but after each of them I had to struggle to walk/swim back. DO NOT go further than your waist, find an orientation point on the beach and check your position frequently. Pay EXTRA attention to kids. For a much calmer and safer beach, which you'll enjoy much more go to Isla Verde where we stayed two days after our cruise.Visited December 2022Written 31 January 2023

I felt uneasy letting my kids go beyond their upper legs. Sad to see many plastic cups and other types plastics laying all over the beach because people don't clean up after themselves :-(Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 July 2023

There is a Walgreens and CVS nearby, I recommend purchasing a chair their for your stay. The waves here were ridiculous that you can’t swim. It’s a beautiful beach but only to walk and enjoy the view. Go down the street to the smaller beach.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 September 2023

NOT a swimmable beach. Most hotels in this area have the beach completely closed off for safety although the views are still great. There’s a nearby beach that’s kind of like a natural pool, it is walking distance but beware if you want a swimmable beach.

Nice quiet beach. Beds and umbrella can be rented. Only after 4pm they collect them again. No restaurants for lunch or drinks.

San Juan was nothing less than perfect!! The heat, the beaches, the rain forest, the food... We stayed in San Juan near Condado Beach in an AirBnb. There's everything you need all within walking distance. Shops, restaurants, markets, liquor store...Condado Beach is known for it's riptides, however when we stayed the water was pretty calm... sand got hot- so make sure to have sandals of some sort. We took a drive to El Yunque Rain Forest which was almost an hour. It is beautiful- must reserve your spot online- recreation.gov, it's $2 & WELL WORTH IT. Beautiful greenery, waterfalls & more. Bring a swimsuit or extra clothes! AND water shoes!! Makes it easier for walking in the little pools. We also took a drive to Old San Juan- which was absolutely stunning. All the old architecture & shops, the cemetery... it's just beautiful. Just watch parking- we got a ticket bc only half of the 'no parking' spot on the corner of the road had fresh yellow paint, and we didnt see the worn out paint that blended with the curb!! So very disappointed about that $250 ticket! However, we just need to be more aware of our surroundings.
I dont really have anything negative to say. Majority of the places we went spoke English- or at least tried!
Go to Senor Baguette for an amazing churrasco & eggs, be sure to get their Fantasy Morning Shot- DELISH!!!
Orozco's was just down the street from there- and we went there twice as well for dinner. Their hot sauce is TO DIE FOR!! We bought a huge bottle to bring home- wishing we got another 2 more! haha They were noted on Diners, Drive ins & Dives-- pernil asado was so tasty with the Puerto Rican rice & beans. Their grouper with garlic sauce was also delish. Servers were so sweet & helpful. There is a sax player in front- and the vibes are just right!! We went for my birthday dinner- and he came & played happy birthday! Turns out-- 3 other people sitting at the tables next to us were also there celebrating their birthdays!! June 8-- was so cool!!!
Semilla Kitchen & Bar was so good too. We went there for our last night. Burger was the best one I've ever had!!! Craving it ever since. My husbands ribeye was also so great too!! The risotto was so creamy & so much flavor! It's off the main strip hidden in an alley almost- but oh my God, dont pass it up!!!
Cant wait to go back. 10/10 recommend.

Hey we have a trip planned in a week. How is Condado beach and the surrounding area after the hurricane? Power outages? Damages? Thanks a bunch!!

I’m staying in an Airbnb in Condado. Is there anywhere to rent beach chairs? Or is there a beach bar that will serve drinks on the beach?

Hi,
You can rent a chair for $10 for the day. Small tables are free. There is a bar on the corner of "Cll Vendig" and possibly a bar at a hotel in front of the beach (next to the steps you take to get to the beach next to Atlantic Beach Hotel) but I don't know if they serve drinks on the beach.

I read that the beach is dangerous for swimming due to strong currents. Has anyone been swimming there recently? Thanks.

The beach behind the Marriott is dangerous, but the public beach next to the Condado Plaza is safe. Also, there is a quiet natural pool( "La pocita") on the beach along Paseo de Don Juan, about 200 meters east of the Marriott, which is safe.

Never been to Condado Beach how is the water is it clear like the Bahamas and Aruba
Boba_Fett_33
Beaver Falls, PA76 contributions
The day I was there it was murky with a very rough surf condition.
It is a rocky, foul looking place.
It is not the "bath tub" calm, crystal clear kind of water you see at a place like Aruba, or Trunk Bay, or those more serene places.

No, not at all. It's usually a bit rough. It's open Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean.
Are there beach chairs and umbrellas available to rent on Condado beach?

Hello
I am visiting OSJ in July and am not staying at a hotel with no connections to a beach. This beach was recommended and i read some reviews. Does this beach rent out chairs, and umbrella? What about food any place around Condado beach to grab a bite while at the beach?Just want to hang out have cocktails, a snack to eat on the beach and get a tan. :0) I am going to uber over where should i ask the uber to drop me off closest to the beach entrance and place to possibly purchase a snack to eat on the way in to the beach?
Thanks in advance.
