Full disclosure, we did not enter the museum but we did enter into the courtyard area. Our guide took us here and gave us the history of the building which as was described was originally the barracks for the soldiers assigned to the fort. As a piece of architecture it was very intriguing with an old world feel. At the... More

This was an enjoyable trip highlight! The layout of the museum with various exhibits in different rooms was very well done. The staff was friendly and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the African based exhibit and the contributions to Puerto Rico. The museum does an excellent job of showing what influences from West Africa are seen and used in Puerto Rico... This was a very interesting place that addresses the history and various different cultures from around the Caribbean and Latin America that have contributed to the mixed culture of Puerto Rico.

Covers history of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. In old military barracks, interesting in itself. Small but generally good exhibit of contemporary art as well. Right across from el morro.

While 2 exhibits were closed, I enjoyed the rest - particularly The Indian in America. Information was brief, easy to read and the artifacts supplemented the experience. It's a bit unusual though as you purchase tickets in the gift shop on ground level and the proceed to the 2nd floor for the exhibits.

This museum is small. It is in the 2nd floor of the Ballaja building/plaza. The museum regularly closes at 4:00 pm in weeks days and 5:00 pm on weekends. Price is 6 or 4 USD depending if you are an adult or student.

The museum has various exhibits on the history of Puerto Rico and other related topics, such as the birds of Puerto Rico and the indigenous peoples of Central and south America. It is very interesting, well designed and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Located within the Bajallá, it is the perfect place to learn more about this wonderful... More

This museum consists of 8 attractions all relative to Puerto Rican history and culture!! We learned a lot here and I highly recommend it. Admission is $7 and you don't need a guide. Also you can easily do it in a couple hours so it won't take up the whole day which is great because there are several other museums... More
