This is an island that has not changed much since time of Christopher Columbus so I write from a Historical point of view. I learned to fly at the Mona Airport which may now be "X" rated. My wife and I visited Mona on the live-aboard Juliet in 2008. Just now found the photos so this post is for that trip. Mona is a uninhabited virginal island with wonders both above and below the surface. Nearby is Little Mona which is also uninhibited. The only way to get there is by boat but that was no problem... This is my favorite place to visit at least once a year. The island is a refuge for birds, sea life and is protected by the Puerto Rico and US governments. Mona island is beautiful not only for it's beaches but it is great for exploring caves. There is a cave where you can see down the cliff to the ocean. It is completly flat on top and it is formed by dolomite rock; which is a type of limestone. You can see ancient coral reefs completly preserved in the rock.... More
