    AMAZING EXPERIENCE
Dec 26, 2023. My husband and I just did the Green Grotto tour. It was amazing, informative and just unbelievably site under this enormous cave. The bats, fish, limestone, rock formation. What more can I say. If you a nature person or not you will be amazed. Please wear the helmet, you are give to prevent a busted head because in some area of the rock is very low and my husband hit his head a few times. The helmet prevents a busted skull. CHEDDAR the tour guide was informative and hilarious. 😆 🤣 😂

Great Experience but a little pricey
We arrived about 10:30am from our 10 min taxi ride from Runaway Bay. No waiting at entrance, purchased tickets and assigned a guide for the 3 of us. We have been to other caves, but this was quite interesting as we saw many bats resting in the 'ceiling', a boa constrictor, and lizard. Guide was very informative, and the tour was finished in about 30 minutes. The current owner (government) seems to be doing a good job preserving its beauty.

The Green Grotto Caves, and amazing experience
Visited the green grotto caves as part of a shore excursion from our cruise ship. Our guide, Chedd, met us at the mouth of the caves and outfitted us with hard hats and a history lesson of the caves. This was one of the best shore excursions we enjoyed on our cruise. It is a long underground walk, underground lakes and local bats. The caves are exceptionally clean and mostly kept in their natural state. If you are visiting Jamaica, I highly recommend a visit to the caves, and request Chedd - an outstanding tour guide. Entrance fee is $20.

Fun and educational tour with Chedd
We had a very interesting and memorable tour with Chedd; he was great joking around with my kids, and also teaching the history, biology, and geology of the cave. We arrived in Falmouth by cruise ship. Royal Caribbean's excursion prices were exorbitant. So we hired our own taxi at the port. He took us straight there, waited for us to tour, and drove us back to the port. We arrived before they even opened for tours so we walked around the area for a little beforehand. We had the first tour of the day on our own, and completed the tour before the RC excursion bus even arrived! So we missed the crowd and it was a lot less expensive. Hard hats are used to keep from hitting your head on the cave roof. They also provide a hairnet/shower cap for those that are squeamish about their hair. Definitely a worthwhile visit and we felt safe the entire time. Love Jamaica! After touring the cave in the morning, we returned to the port and had plenty of time to tour Falmouth on a guided walking tour, which I highly recommend also. The locals are wonderfully friendly and there is much to see in Falmouth outside the confines of the port.

    Not your typical cave tour
We got here when they first opened due to being on an excursion booked locally instead of through the cruise ship and as a result only had our family and one other in the group. While on the tour the shop tour arrived with 40 people, would not recommend seeing the caves that way. Our guide was Chedd and he was great. He made sure to interact with the kids in our family and the other. He gave them each turns to be the leader and made sure to engage them when imparting his knowledge of the caves. The caves have a lot of openings to the outside along the way so they are not cool like caves that go deep into the earth and as a result if it hot and muggy outside it will be less hot but still muggy in the caves. The history and the restoration they are doing is great and the kids will have a good time while on the visit. Overall this is a great excursion from the cruise ship.

I visited here from Falmouth as part of a cruise excursion. Overall I would say that the caves were pretty underwhelming but were made much better by an exceptional ,tour guide. Sadly I can’t recall the guys name but he was hilarious throughout but also managed to give us the facts in a fun way. The tour lasts around 45 minutes but it’s just a few caves and a small underground lake. Some of the cave passages have low roofs (I am over 6 ft tall) and underfoot is uneven - just as you would expect.

My husband,Rick and I visited the caves with another couple while vacationing in Jamaica. We have visited other caves in the states but this one was quite different but very enjoyable. The caves here are NOT damp and cold. The staff greeted us as we arrived and were very friendly as was our guide, who was very knowledgeable as she provided a lot of interesting information of the history of the caves. I would recommend wearing sneakers or closed toe shoes for all the walking plus steps and ramps along the way. Stooping and bending down to get through certain low areas is required as well, so as not to hit your head, as hard hats are worn. When exiting one cave and entering the second you walk through lush vegetation……very pretty! This was a very nice attraction and I would highly recommend it!

Shout out to Chedd (or chedo as i called him). He was an excellent tour guide that was oh so intelligent and knowledgeable. My fiancé and I enjoyed the tour so much and Chedd made the experience so fun and pleasant with his facts and occasional jokes. I would definitely try again!

P.s. though we are in the middle of the pandemic I felt so safe as Chedd and the other workers sanitised often and ofcourse we also did. I implore any person who is interested to please visit as the lack of visitors are taking a toll on this lovely attraction and its workers (specifically Chedd who made us have such a great time).

This was a very interesting tour, BUT logistics could be significantly improved on. Even though we had a scheduled tour, we had to wait over an hour with nothing to do for our turn to go into the caves. Additionally the tour groups were very large, making it very hard to hear the tour guide. Suggestions for improvement: If scheduled tours are made, manage those tour times so people don't have to wait. Also consider having smaller groups, or investing in an audio system to enable the guests to hear the tour. I couldn't hear half of what was said.

Our guide was very knowledge and friendly. We were a group of 7 and he kept us entertained as well as provide the history of the caves. Our favorite part was the bats resting in the ceiling of the cave. The tour was just the right length, about 45 minutes. I would recommend this tour.

This was a very informative trip, the guide was very funny while providing the history of the caves and island. A bad knee made me hesitant to do this trip because a traveler mention their were about about 62 steps to walk up after the tour, However. I took my time on the walk up and was fine. This cave is definitely a must see.

When we disembarked our cruise ship we walked through a gorgeous port in Falmouth, Jamaica toward our tour bus. We were met with our vivacious tour guide, Shontal, who gave us a little history of some famous people from the area: Usain Bolt and Harry Belafonte. She also told us how easy going the people of Jamaica were after last week's earthquake and potential tsunami. Instead of seeking shelter, they were buying snorkeling equipment. When we arrived at the caves, we were given hard hats to wear. Children didn't need them. We followed our tour guide and hiked through the most amazing caves, well lit paths, banisters, seeing banyan trees, stalactites, stalagmites, and the water source. We also hiked through the "Limbo Hole". The experience fits the name. We thoroughly enjoyed the caves and it was a fun adventure to make memories with our kids.
