It is known as one of the top ten beaches in the world. The first time I visited Frenchman's cove I fell in love. It is just ridiculously beautiful. I love how the stream merges with the ocean and the various temperatures of the water....More

No surfing here. The beach is magical and lovely. It is really an estuary that is divided in half by sand. One side, from the mountains is brisk, clear to perfection and much cooler than its brother, the ocean. The ocean side is warmer, a bit sandier, but really beautiful and nice for wading and walking around. This is not a huge beach, more like a place to spend a fantastic day. The restaurant is not really pricey, but not cheap either. There is a little swing out over the water. There are sun chairs and a large shower place inside. There is a guest house there where people stayed if I remember correctly. There are also a few beautiful areas of lagoon fish and plants that you will see as you walk by. There is also a guy who sells really nice jewelry outside by the gate. I bought these amazing seed beads that are all red and come from a pod that grows by the water. They look like red lacquer. The main activity on this beach is hanging out in an amazingly beautiful place. Most food in Jamaica is expensive unless you live on patties that you didn't buy from the Devon House Bakery. :) Not far from this place is Blue Lagoon (where the movie was made). My favorite thing that I did in all of my time in Portland was go on our rafting trip. We (my 2 year old son and I) were out on our bamboo raft for 3 hours or so. It was so beautiful! It cost about $35.00. Our bamboo driver Bunny asked my to marry him. There was never a dull moment there. I miss it already.
