The white lighthouse tower was built in 1894, situated at south Negril - 2,5 km of centre town. Height 27 metres, focal height 31 metres. Light source - gas lamp, from 1956 acetylen lamp and from 1985 solar energy.

We went up to the Negril lighthouse and it was so pretty. The view and the grounds. Amazing that on a clear day through binoculars, you can see Cuba which is 80 miles away...

This is listed as a tourist attraction and we like lighthouses and decided to go. If you enjoy viewing one from behind a locked gated fence, then this is for you. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. you can't get close enough to see a thing

Very neat to see and hard to believe it is still in use. Nice area over looking the Caribbean Sea. About an hour drive West from Lucea Jamaica and right across from Rick's Cafe.

The Negril Lighthouse and its property is now privately owned and not open to the public. You can peek through a chain link fence at it, but that's about it. Do consider eating right across the street, tho, at Penny's Seafood or just up the...More

we saw it on our sunset catamaran cruise, it looked very beautiful and majestic, right after we passed Rick's Cafe. Would love to see it up close.

unfortunately by now it is closed to the public. People told us it's because of the building which suffers from too many people walking there
