The exhibits on the history of Jamaica and Rastafarianism were fine themselves, but I did not see the art gallery since the staff was quite unprofessional in my opinion. As I walking around, one of the staff members came up to me and asked for money to buy something to drink (who knows why the person did not ask a colleague instead of a visitor). I found that odd but gave a small amount and then got rebuked because it was too little. Why I actually even gave something after that, I don't know, but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I left shortly after without seeing the entire place.

Plan for several hours!! We had a great docent led tour of the museum which was small but very interesting. The Rasta exhibit was very well done and worth the reading. Unfortunately, as we spent so much time in these two areas, we did not get into the National Gallery. Don't cut yourself short with time as it is well worth the visit.

There are two exhibitions, one on Jamaican history generally, and the other on Rastafarianism. Neither are very rich in artefacts, but they do present history in digestible form, with excellent use of graphics and historic material. We learned a lot in our 1 hour visit. Staff very very helpful and knowledgeable.

We visited the museum on Easter Sunday 2018. We toured the Montego Bay history side and then the Rastafarian history side. Both sides were extremely educational. Our guide was Carrie Ann, the museum curator. She gave us a fantastic tour. Very professional, informing and understandable. After the history areas, we toured a sculpture gallery. Overall a great experience.

The tour guides were very knowledgeable and informative. They told about Jamaica’s history as far back as 700A.D. The role Marcus Garvey played in Jamaica in the early 1900’s as well as The Revelation of Ras Tafari. Also, the different nationalities that controlled the leadership of the country throughout its existence. It was a lot of information to absorb and most of it I didn’t know. I will not post many pictures because it’s a “must do” when in Jamaica. Excellent experience!!!

Held consultations here and we were well received. Thanks again Ms Hillary. The meeting room area was spacious clean and well attended to by the maintenance and grounds people who take care of the centre.

The location was able to accommodate all the necessaries for our event needs with the help of caterers.

While we were walking around the downtown of Montego Bay we saw the Cultural Centre and decided to check it out. A good choice!
There are three parts to the building. We first visited the history of Jamaica side, then the Rastafarian section, and finally the art gallery. All are worthwhile and it's a small enough museum that you get good information without spending all day.
The Rastafarian exhibit was particularly interesting to us, as it was not something we knew much about.
Good value for a small charge.

A small but interesting museum documenting Jamaica's journey from colonisation, slavery through to its current day position as a tourist hotspot. The museum is slightly hard to find amongst the hustle of the town, but it's worth the search. Very reasonably priced - 8$ per person
