Especially if you're still adjusting to your standard shift car, but quite beautiful and the short walk to the waterfall, Cascade des Ecrivisses, is worthwhile.

Scenic drive between Pointe a Pitre and Bouillante. The vegetation was lush and peaceful. Worth stopping and taking a hike.

Nice scenic drive to go to the west of Basse Terre with enjoyable stops along the way (we stopped to the cascade des ecrevisses). The road was not bad at all if you go slowly (which allows you to enjoy your surroundings as well). There are not a lot of overlook areas but the road is still very enjoyable being... More

Although there are not too many viewpoints, the road itself is fun. You drive up into the mountains and see a different climate than the rest of the island - different trees and landscape. It is quite fun and a little scary, but no more so than the highway leading to it from Deshaies. The attractions along the route -... More

I'm not sure why people find this road scary. Based on reviews, I was expecting much worse - having driven all over Central America, not to mention lots of pretty scary roads in American national parks this was a piece of cake! Yes, it's windy and mountainous, but the paved surface is in great shape with no extreme drop offs... More

Escape the crowds of Grande Terre, a few km and you're on the road through the rainforest hills - big, lush and as green as you like! Park up put your trek shoes on and head off up a tail or two, well marked, get some nice big views from Les Mamelles - you may not meet anyone at all!

This is a nice scenic drive cutting across Basse-Terre. Our condo was in Gosier and we used this road to get to Plage de la Malendure. On this route you will find cascade aux ecrevisses and maison de la forest to name a few.

Not sure why this is even an attraction. Road was good. Drive was beautiful through the forest. No complaint, just not wowed.

Not too sure why this road gets such a good rating as an attraction. This is a very fast short cut across Basse Terre and would make for a very interesting journey in rush hour traffic if you have a nervous driver or passenger. The road is in good condition and is a great way to cut across the island.... More

This is a wonderful drive, especially if you do not want to drive the same way back that you came from. Nice views and forests.
