The shops and cafes in the main town were friendly and helpful, and of a much better standard than in many places. We hired electric bikes to tour the island, taking in both coastlines, and a superb visit to Fort Napoleon. Everything is within easy reach.Visited November 2022Written 3 January 2023

Real ham without sodium nitrates in it. People seem to be friendly need to speak a little friendship possible. But you can get pretty much anything you need here. Had a great time and I'm hoping to come back.Visited May 2023Travelled on businessWritten 20 May 2023

Don't worry about to lock the door of your home since none try to enter. the children are free to play in the Terre de Haut square in the evening, there are no cars and everyone knows each other in the village. We 've spent 2 weeks there, and everyone in Guadeloupe said us is too much since Terre de Haut is very little - about 12 km square. But you can choose between 8 beaches and they are all stunning. my favorite is la Pompierre. you can snorkel almost in all beaches surrounded by fish of every color, lobsters. For the first time I've seen a seahorse.. The most known beach is Pain a Sucre, a little version of Rio de Janeiro bay. Here you can find the best snorkeling of the island, but the beach is very little and crowed, especially during the week end. the best time to visit is noon when the daily tourists are at the lunch, and the boat tours aren't still arrived. we loved also the village, with many restaurants and good food. People are always gentle and after a week you begin to know your neighbors. it is worth to spend more than a day here.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 November 2023

Love the islands of Les Saintes.
The Saintes have all the elements of island life with all the spoils and charm one would expect.

Terre-de-Haut is beautiful. Food is affordable and tasty. Vegetarian options are *not* on menus, but every restaurant we went to was willing to make something unique and delicious to accommodate. In Point-a-Pitre, racial tensions are palpable, and there is unofficial segregation. Being polite and deferring to locals seemed to ease interactions. Definitely not a place to go without knowing some French! Be prepared for mosquitoes, and perhaps being unable to access some beaches due to seaweed (an intermittent issue).

This was a great find. Small village feel, and for the most part very NOT crowded. However, we witnessed one ferry disembark about 100 people one morning, and by the time we got to town, there were no scooters or golfcarts to rent to explore the island. Be forewarned to make arrangments early. In town are several good restaurants (the best for lunch being Cafe de la Marine) and many shops (don't miss Love and La Maogany).

Les Saintes is a little piece of heaven. It’s quite ungentrified, with loads of nature and “real” islanders living an islander life. Perfect for a few days away. But you have to speak French and know some locals to get the best experience

Les Saintes is a small island (2 actually) that offers amazing scenery and wonderful beaches. It's a great place to spend 4 days of R&R, enjoying the beach and living the simple life. What is amazing here is that at the time of writing this post, les saintes is relatively still not a place for mass tourism and still offers a "real" or not overly polished experience, even if many tourists come here every day. To quickly go around the island, I suggest booking an electric car which is provided by a couple of shops on the island, it's not very expensive and allows you to see more in less time while enjoying the views.

We anchored a sailboat in the lee of the island Ilet a Cabrite across from Terre-de-Haut. There's nice snorkeling right off the boat. The island has some short hikes which get you great views of the ring of islands. Terre-de-Haut is a great little town, with easy walking or you can rent a scooter, ebike and taxi if you want to get up to the French Fort. The fort charges an admission ... I didn't go in, not my thing, but the walk up give you great views. The shops are all pleasant and nice people. English is prevalent enough that you will get by with minimal hand gestures. Au Bon Vivre is simply excellent. It is NOT on the water, but has a very inviting outdoor patio and food is truly excellent.

We stayed two nights on the Island, It is lovely! - be prepared to walk or hire bikes or scooters (But these are too noisy!) - take your time to visit Fort Napoleon - really interesting but leave to get there early as it gets so hot! Don't bother with Pain du Sucre Beach, instead head for Les Pompiers - it has palms, picnic benches and the most beautiful bay!
Even Swimming on the beach at Anse du Fonde is lovely, followed up by breakfast at one of the Boulangeries - Wonderful Experience

Are there any hotels on Les Saintes that offer "day passes" as we are on a Windstar Cruise visiting the island for a day?

We are going to be at Iles des Saintes on a Windstar cruise and saw someone mention renting a golf cart. Where could we do that and does anyone know the price? Thank you.

Hi - Do you have the name of the company where you took the mini-bus tour of ILes Saintes? We will be there in November. Any other information would be appreciated. According to our itinerary, it says we will be in Terre-de-Haut, Guadaloupe on 13 November from 8 to 5 pm.

I'm sorry I don't remember the name. It was arranged by our cruise ship. The town itself is very walkable and the beach is very close. We walked around to the fort, up and down a few hills. We spent several hours just lounging on the beach. It is not like a Hawaii beach, much more casual and you can rent chairs to sit in. We just sat on the sand. The water was very nice. People around us were going out in catamarans. There are little "cafes" along the beach and streets to stop and eat or have a drink. We were amazed at the number of roosters in Les Saintes! HaHa!!

Location scooter:
