Atlantic waves makes this filthy beach an Olympian's paradise as swimming, or practically fighting the currents will surely sap whatever is left of one's energy after an hour and half drive.

Bathway is a lovely beach, it's not your typical Caribbean beach due to it being more Atlantic than Carib Sea. it has a natural rock bar which creates a really nice natural swimming pool area. We walked the beach daily (it's not easy as the sand sinks fairly deeply) and had a rewarding swim thereafter. We counted a max of 6 people at any one occasion over the 10 or so swims we had over the week. There are small food shacks next to the beach that make chicken & chips as well as fish & chips - nice, friendly and local. Saturday & Sunday saw a few locals having beach gatherings/parties. We will definitely come back when in Grenada.

The most beautiful view, the raw power of the Atlantic Ocean, intense hues of blues, natural reef and cliffs striated with shades of browns and reds. Don't let the reviews of not safe and dangerous current keep you away. If you swim just to the right of the yellow shack you'll be fine. Chances are you'll have the beach to yourself during the week.

There was no-one on this beach except for a security guy who was there, I guess, to protect turtles. Lovely views - take your own drinks etc. though!

We visited during the day - and not in turtle season - so may have seemed fairly ordinary compared to other reviews.
All jolly pleasant. Easy to park i.e. no one else around and nice lashing waves. Had a red flag out and it did look a tad menacing. We walked along the beach - and back again!
Nice views out across the bay to various islands etc. Very scenic.
Highlight was probably me trying to turn the car around with what seemed half the village watching me attempt to fail from the community centre with their beers in hand.

Due to a natural reef barrier from the open ocean, this beach is a nice safe spot to swim. Few rocks, sandy bottom, no dangerous creatures that we saw/heard about. Lifeguards during the tourist season and daylight hours too.
Sweet little cafes (we enjoyed Aggie's and it was recommended by many) and spend the $1EC for the clean toilets - they are well maintained.
Some shade available under the trees, but it is an exposed beach for the most part.
Despite the reef protection, do be aware of strong currents for small children. And never, never go over the reef on a dare/joke. Several people have died that way.

Strong currents thus not an ideal spot for beach.
If you want to relax and listen to the waves, this is good
But if you want to venture into the water there are much better and safer option

If you want to visit a beach in Grenada that is not too touristy – for the want of a better word – Bathway Beach (or ‘Bartway’ in the local vernacular) is the one.
We visited on a clear, somewhat cloudy day and there were not many people around, which makes the beach easier to enjoy.
The water wasn’t completely calm, but could not really be described as choppy either – possibly best for strong swimmers though. There is also a barrier in the water – a reef, breaker? – not sure, but this seems to protect the shore from the larger waves.
Bathway Beach has a stretch of white sand that is typically seen in images of a beauteous beach used to attract visitors to the island. Bathway has a good reputation and it is well deserved as it is a great beach at which to bathe in the sea or lay back on the sand.
The views around the coast line is also enjoyable, whether the houses nestled up on the hill, the remaining coast or the neighbouring islands.
There was a little hut serving food and drink, but we didn’t stay long enough to partake.
I remember there being a water pipe at the Beach last time I was there – granted, several years ago – to rinse off. This is no longer available, but there are shower cubicles available for which you have to pay $1EC! Though it isn’t a lot of money, I still thought it a bit if a cheek. I think it may well cost a dollar to use the loo as well.
A minor issue in an overall lovely visit to the beach.

Totally worth the drive to the north of the island - this beach has a natural reef that blocks the waves, leaving you with an amazing lagoon area in which to swim/lounge. Definitely a locals beach which was a nice change from Grand Anse. If you head up to Bathway for the day, definitely have lunch at the Heights, which is close by near Sateurs. There are a couple bars on the beach and I think you could buy bbq as well. Be sure to walk north where the beach is desserted and there is an amazing rock formation / secluded coves for your exploration!

Do not expect a great bathing beach! Quite well-suited for young kids but for me the water is shallow, and swimming is restricted to the very middle of the beach due to offshore currents. Nice day out though. Small roadside shacks sell varying qualities of food including barbecue chicken and fried fish. There is also a small but excellent restaurant, "Aggie's" across the street. Bathway has public showers and toilet facilities and a small souvenir shop as well as housing the visitor centre for Levera National Park.

How to get to this beach? is the local public transport used to get here?
Written 6 May 2016
There is not a scheduled bus. You can rent cars. You can hire a bus or taxi . Or you can pay a little extra to a local bus driver to take you into Bathway. It's not usually a regular stop as the road ends in Levera. It's not heavily populated yet.

Where can I go on Grenada to see turtles in the wild? Can you only view them at night? Is there anywhere to snorkel and see them.

are there any beach chairs to rent?
Written 23 December 2014
There are no beach chairs to rent at this time. There are a couple of stone benches and lots of trees. A bathroom and some tables at the government visitors section.
