We stopped as part of a tour. Didn't see any monkeys but evidently they are all over the place. A couple of cool old timers played music, take a pic and tip a buck or two, and there are shops to buy beer, ice cream and souvenirs as well as a restaurant making authentic "oil down" dish. You can see the lake from the house on the hill.

The tour we went on took us to the National Park Centre so we could look down on Etang Lake. From here we had a good view but only from a distance but the lake is perhaps not as large as might be expected.
The centre is up an incline so perhaps not great is you have any mobility problems. There are a number of stalls to purchase souviners

The lake is in the national park, in the crater of an old volcano. We drove ourselves and stopped by for just a few minutes, no need to spend a lot of time there. The road through the national park to the lake is surrounded by rain forest, which is just beautiful.

We visited here as part of a taxi tour we had paid for whilst visiting on a cruise ship. We were with KING ELVIS (taxi company owner) and he suggested visiting here. The part is very pretty, $2 to enter, which you don't really get anything for, but appreciate they need to make money and doesn't exactly break the bank. Lovely views, small museum and clean toilets. Wouldn't say this is a 'must see' but if you are doing it as part of a wider trip then it is nice to explore.

We didn't spend a great deal of time here as we wanted to do several other falls along the way however it was well worth the stop. The monkeys really are the attraction here although it was nice to see a fresh water lake where they don't allow any motorized vehicles. The amount of fish in this lake is quite impressive. Keep in mind that it is a elevation so it can be a bit cool and the wind can be a bit strong at times.
Tip:
- Bring bananas for the monkeys
- Bring crackers for the fish
- Bring some fish or canned meat for the cats

Best part of this was the 1 hour ride up through the rainforest to get there. Grand is an overstatement--the lake is no bigger than the pond in our backyard!!! From the hilltop overlooking the lake you can see some of it in the distance!!! There are some souvenir vendors, a small museum and two costumed women for pix there but not much else. For the 2+ hours up and back definitely not worth the time or effort!

Grand Etang Lake is located in Grand Etang National Park. It is a crater lake of an extinct volcano. This is a beautiful area and is only a 30 min ride from St George's. You can easily get out here by catching the #6 bus from the bus depot in St George's. The buses in Grenada are minivans that collect and drop off locals (and tourists open to adventure) along a specific route. Very inexpensive and part of the experience. The lake is nice enough but even better are the other hiking opportunities in the National Park including a strenuous but exciting climb up Mount Qua Qua for panoramic views or the hike to the scenic Seven Sisters Waterfalls. If hungry or thirsty, you can find local food and drinks at the visitor center.

Really fascinating lake created by volcanic activity in the past. Very quiet and calm and with no fishing allowed the lake was full of exotic fish. If you are lucky and carry a banana or two you might also encounter the mone monkeys

We walked to Annadale Falls in Grand Etang National Forest in Grenada. The climb was not terribly steep but people of unsure footing should not attempt to come here. Annandale Falls and the walk to the falls is very scenic. The falls dump into a swimming hole and there were people swimming in this area. The falls is also a place that clift divers come. We saw several and it was entertaining to see them.

The drive to get here is not for the faint of heart or those prone to motion sickness- inclines that would make a jeep weep and curves / drop offs as well. The lake itself is nice scenery, but nothing out of the ordinary. We "snuck" in after hours (5:30pm) and were somewhat creeped out by the lack of folks around.

How would you enter to see the Grand Etang Lake? Do you pass through the Visitor Center?
Written 30 January 2018
Yes, there is a kiosk to pay. Just up on the left is the lake, best viewed from the visitor centre.
