    Amazing private tour by Moctezuma
A beautiful and magical place to visit. The only access is by boat. Tours are available, but if you like it a little more private we found a nice option. We arrived in Sabana del Mar by car and met Moctezuma close to the harbour. He took us to the parking spot at the start of the mangroves, and we went in his small boat for a private tour with excellent guiding in English. The caves, birds and hanging cliffs are all amazing.

Beautiful national park well worth a visit.
This is a beautiful natural park. It takes a bout 30 minutes by boat to arrive from the Samana Peninsula. It is well worth the time and effort. Minutes after arriving at the entrance we saw a manatee feeding just off shore. There are several small islets with hundreds of birds of different species including herons, frigates, vultures and pelicans. There are some interesting caves to explore and the kayak ride through the mangroves was beautiful.

    Breath taking scenery
Took part of a tour of the national park, including the caves and a nice stop on an island for lunch. The national park is beautiful!!! The tour guide and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. We even got to see a whale along the way. The trip was both relaxing and fun. Highly recommend but keep in mind it is a full day, we were picked up at 730am and returned at 7pm

A 5 star park experience with 2 star transportation
This destination deserves 5 stars, it was fantastic. But there were two transfers between vehicles to get there, one of them at the side of the highway. We asked ahead of time via whatsapp, for vehicle details, but it was hard to get accurate information. On to Las Haitises - fabulous! The mangroves, the boat trip, the views, the cliffs, the caves, the aboriginal markings, the lunch stop, our guide, everything was excellent. We debated between this trip and Saona. I'm fairly sure this was quite a different trip. Our guide was great but spoke a lot of Spanish (fair enough bcs we were with some Spanish speaking tourists). We both speak some limited Spanish so it wasn't a big problem for us, but may be for others. One surprise on the way home that is both good and bad. We stopped at a parking lot and were told to get into a safari truck. I thought for a moment we were being transferred yet again! Grrr. But this was not the case. just bad communications. They took us on a wild ride up Montana Redondo, to a 300m high peak with a fabulous view. Thankfully the tour van was still there to get us home. Overall a terrific day, I cannot say enough about Las Haitises National Park. But the transfers were not good. The operators keep that part quiet so as not to lose business.

It was truly amazing! What a great, bautiful and wonderful park this is! We went with a speedboat over the lake and then into to mangrove. We say lots of birds and spider crabs.

Really recommend checking this place out, especially if you can either get there by boat or get out on the water from the park. Really interesting and beautiful little islands, lots of birds. Natural caves with some vestiges of the Taino, the indigenous people that were wiped out by the Europeans. The lodge is gorgeous.

It is very sad that they dont take care of the place. Plastic bottles in the water, garbage. In general I wouldn´t recommend Dominican Republic if you want to see, respect and enjoy. If the plan is going and getting drunk you can go there. But if you are interested in seeing nature and colonial places it is not. Besides, they charge you good restautantes in the tour but take you (with the excuse that is more typical) to dirty and rice and beans places with street dogs in a very bad situation. Clearly, the worst vacation in my life.

Worth the effort and price to visit the caves, islands, channels and mangrove swamps. Pelican bird nesting close up in October was exciting. A must-see and do in Samana peninsula.

Los Haitises is a beautiful park and interesting cultural heritage site where one can see splendid Taino pictographs in the caves. To take full advantage, best to go with a smaller group or by kayak, so you can really get in amongst the mangroves and away from the crowds in the caves. Our family of four took a small motor boat from Samana with Explora Ecotour, a locally run business, whose owner, Manny, is extremely knowledgable about and respectful of the local ecology and history. While some tours were getting cursory overviews (or misinformation), Manny really explained what we were seeing. Very interesting and beautiful place.

We took a taxi and motoconchos to and from this park, staying over several night at Paraiso Caño Hondo and taking advantage of their day trips. Both the kayaking and the boat rides through the mangroves revealed many birds as well as the interesting flora. My family took the short hikes in to see the Taino caves. Altogether a beautiful place.
