Given the rave comments we were amazed at this beach. Maybe the seaweed is seasonal but we never saw a beach with a boom before.
Nearly every day was windy with blowing sand which exposed rocks, sticks, roots etc making it rough to walk on.
And we too never saw so much dangerous glass!!
At least a crew was out daily to clear the beach and boom.

A lovely beach with even better people! Anthony was our server whenever we did a beach day, and he was very attentive to us all day (we would spend at least 5-6 hours), he was super courteous, and the drinks were great!! Awesome experience and would definitely visit again :)

NO idea we were headed to a beachfront with so many options! Literal sit down dining to cabanas to standard beachfront lounge chairs. So, the service is slow as usual, but you just tolerate that - the sand was white and soft, and the winds helped keep the humidity at bay.

There is a lot of stinky sargassum seaweed. It caused the water to be quite cloudy also. There are chair rentals on the beach along with a nice little bar. If staying at certain resorts you do not have to pay.

This is about the fifth time I visit Juanillo Beach and the Beach Club. I have to say that I had been sorely disappointed about 4 months ago due to the poor quality of the food. Food was taking very long to be served and they were not using food covers, so the food would get to the guests cold. I am glad to say they have made a big improvement in that respect.
They have also increased the amount of servers available, so it makes it easier to order food and drinks instead of having to chase after them. They still have to work a little on customer service skills of some service staff. I particularly have to say I had a very nice encounter with a server names Castro. He went above and beyond my expectations and delivered stellar service. It was a very refreshing experience that stood out among the lackluster service of others.
They have also kept on improving the lounges and beach beds, which makes for a very pleasant time just as it was many years ago.

We stayed at TRS Cap Cana which has no beach...or at least a very sad small beach. The resort had a free shuttle to Juanillo beach so we went. It was excellent! Not sure why the negative reviews of the beach bar and grill. There were at least 3 waiters walking the beach, thank you Franklin! Several beer selections, including Budweiser...woohoo., and many mixed drink options. We ordered a chicken wrap and fries and got in within 10 Minutes. Excellent flavorful full of chicken wrap. Had 5 drinks and food for around $42 US. Lots of chairs to use but locals said it gets very crowded on the weekends. We were there on a Saturday and it wasn't too bad. Great beautiful water and soft sand beach. We would highly recommend if your resort does not have a decent beach.

A few things to know on top of the reviews how gave 4 -5 points for this beach.
The name of the restaurant there is now Juanillo‘s Grill & Beach Club. There is an older blog from 2017 did still have th wood name and the description, that the place (beach) is freely accessible. Clearly, others did read this report as well, was we were told at the security check point to drive to the tourist information, which is adjacent. Here you need to present picture ID and a credit card and you will need to pay 30 USD cover charge, which will be used for paying the bill at the restaurant. So, make a right turn before driving to the check point and enter the place, otherwise you will not be able to enter the quite large property.
The place is really nice. White sand. A true little paradise. The cocktails are really good and tasty. Not cheap. Unfortunately the restaurant and only fried dishes that day. It may have been because of the day after new year‘s eve, so the waiter said.
It took quite some time to get attention of the staff, but once you placed your order, food and beverages are being served in good time.
Enjoy a great day out there.

Is there free access to the beach if I am coming from a cruise ship on my own? Also, are there rest rooms, umbrellas and chairs? If so, is there a charge?

I am seeing lots of unanswered past questions on this topic, but willing to ask again.
(1) How long will a taxi ride take from the Cap Cana Marina (where our cruise ship will tender) to get to Juanillo (Cap Cana resort entrance)?
(2) approximately how much will a taxi ride cost?
(3) is it possible or even preferred to arrange a return taxi upon arrival there, or is it fairly easy to get a taxi to return to Marina?
Thanks

Hi! It is a public beach. You need to go through the gates at Cap Cana and if you are not staying in the area all you have to do is letting them know you are going to Playa Juanillo and they will ask for your ID. Sometimes they just register you and sometimes they ask you to leave it your ID with them until you leave but most definitely you get access.
How accessible is this beach and do they have beach wheelchairs available?

The beach is super close
Hard packed sand
There were at least 2 wheelchairs on the beach every day
I have a tripped planed end of December to the first week of January. We have been to the DR many times, this time the Dreams LA romona was taken over by Hilton, we loved it there so much! The ocean was so clear and beautiful. We love dreams and decided on secret cap Cana. I’m looking at reviews and I’m getting nervous about the beach not being swim because of the seaweed. The reviews so far are from May-October. Can any one give me an honest review about the beach around Christmas and New Years.

We were there in June 2019 so consider that. The seaweed was not a problem. They have crews of workers working early in the morning and again late afternoon (daily) to keep the seaweed off the beach; and the shallow area up to being underwater (I'm 6'3" tall) wasn't an issue for wading or swimming. Don't get me wrong there is seaweed that comes onto the beaches but it is looked after and taken care of. It's not just left there. I also suggest scrolling back to reviews of the beach, area, and your resort around Christmas and New Year's last year to give you a better idea of what to expect during that time of the year. Good luck and enjoy your vacation 👍🏾✌🏾

Is juanillo beach public?

I believe that parts of the beach south of the Scape Park area are public. It was very quiet though the times when we were there.
