Best way to learn about the life of original inhabitants of La Hispaniola. Well preserved historic pieces and well done historical counts of events. The best in the country

My friend & I were the only ones in the museum. The guard whom I guess was bored struck up a conversation with my Cuban friend. It's a small museum, but if you know Taino art (found on the Caribbean islands, also Puerto Rico), this has some important pieces.

Ask to see the Higuero tree and the heavyweight gourds - very impressive ! it is only a small... More

The museum is impressive in its appearance inside with museum quality display cases and signage. I found the display... More

If you find yourself in Altos de Chavon and you have any interest in the geological formation of jewels or just want to pick up some jewels cultivated from the local areas this small but nice museum is worth a stop.
