Very interesting natural attraction. Ancient caves in the middle of Santo Domingo. Full of stalagmites and stalactites. Also a series of small lakes at various levels. There are many stairs, so this is not for those who have trouble with stairs. Deceptive. The stairs come in stages on the way down, but all at the same time on the way... More

The caves are beautiful and well maintained, except for a small area where some vandalism took place. Te guides are well informed so it makes it worthwhile.

Went with friends from the Dominican Republic, it is a extraordinary beautiful cave. Not a lot of American tourists but well worth the trip. Very educational and staff very friendly, staff speaks many languages including English.

We went as a family to see this via recommendation from a friendly cab driver. It was quite a treat and especially because it was practically empty so we received personalized tour of underground caves with beautiful Taino pictorials and natural stone formations. Our tour guide Roberto was very knowledgeable, accommodating and helpful. They also have a large Iguana reserve.... More

Guide was great and very informative. Kids really enjoyed it! They were very excited they got to see what an inside of a cave looked like.

But far one of the most amazing things we have seen. Forgive me for not knowing the correct names of the formations as I really could not remember basically anything our tour guide said as I was just looking around at everything being reminded by my friend to close my mouth. All I can say this is a must see... More

Beautiful caves with a multilingual guide and easy walking access. There is also an elevator for disabled. Very humid, these cave were discovered by Boy Scouts about 100 years ago. Multiple large chambers with ancient drawings. Excellent dramatic lighting of features and subtly lit walkways. Prepare for less than 1000 stairs at various times over 1 hour. There is also... More

You don't hear that much about this attraction but it really should be included on more tours. These caves are fantastic! Large caves with lots of stalactites and stalagmites, very safe to walk around and you will be in awe. Only down side no photo's. Very damp inside due to it being 'living caves' so plan your footwear accordingly.

We stopped here on a tour from Santa Domingo. The tour guides were more interested in stopping us and begging for tips after viewing the area. Not impressed.

"La Cueva de las Maravillas," or the Cave of Miracles or Cave of Wonders, is a historic site featuring ancient Dominican history in the form of Taino Indian cave painting. It was an amazing and beautiful place located in La Romana only 30 minutes away from Juan Dolio. You will be guided through this beautiful cave but keep in mind... More
