About
The Cable Car Puerto Plata is located on the Mountain "Isabel de Torres", south of the beautiful city of Puerto Plata. At the top of the mountain, above a fortress is the statue of "Christ the Redeemer" with open arms gives the welcome to visitors. During the visit you will enjoy wonderful views of the ocean and city, as well as beautiful gardens, since the mountain has been declared a Scientific Reserve for the wide variety of animal and plant species that are found in it. And if you keep your eyes peeled, you can discover hidden caves that lead to springs and streams that flow into the mountain! While in Puerto Plata, do not miss the cable car, with its exotic natural beauty and extensive National Park.

    Very cool experience
This is a really cool experience. You get to ride a cable car up the mountain, and there is really a lot to do at the top. There’s a cave, gardens, restaurant, statue, old time house, etc. it’s a lot of walking on top and plan to spend at least an hour up there. We had a great time and highly recommend.

    Views that never get old!
The last time I visited this place was like 8 years ago and I can tell that there are improvements to make your experience a better one. Now they have more staff to help you find your way around and answer any questions you may have. The facilities felt cleaner and better organized. The views from the top of the mountain never get old! Up there you can walk through many trails, admire the beautiful vegetation and take nice pictures of the wonderful view of the city of Puerto Plata. There's a gift shop and a small snack bar where you can sit, eat and drink. Prices are good for a tourist place. I would recommend taking a sweater before going up there. Temperatures may drop drastically at any time of the day.

    Awesome tour
This place is beautiful, ride is terrifying and scary but worth it a warning sometimes power goes out and they have to switch to generators so car stopped and it turned a little we all freaked out and screamed whishing someone told us in advance. Once up there the views and forest, the flowers are awesome. Wear comfortable and non-slippery shoes because it is very humid.

    Amazing Hike
We initially did not think much of the hike and did not believe we needed a guide, however, quickly realized how grateful I was that we ended up going with one, Domingo. He charged $100 which I initially thought was a bit much but actually ended up tipping him over twice that. He was fantastic 10/10, the hike was beautiful, albeit strenuous, took us about three hours, and had some very steep/overgrown sections. We did come across some beautiful avocados, ?guava?, wildlife, and a wonderfully satisfying arrival at the top. The view was beautiful, the vendors were persistent as they all are in the DR ahah, and the view coming down by the cable car was gorgeous. Best part of my vacation.

    The Teleferico Experience
Must see when you visit Puerto Plata! Its USD10 per person to ride the cable car that takes you 2600 ft above sea level, at the peak of Isabel de Torres Mountain. You get to see a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean, the shorelines and the cityscape of Puerto Plata. On top of the mountain sits a smaller version of the Christ the Redeemer statue similar to one in Brazil. Im bad for forgetting names but there’s a guy there who owns a souvenir shop up there. He would volunteer to take ypur pics for free and his only request is for you to buy from his gift shop. He takes amazing pics its all worth it. Go to his shop after and buy a piece or two. Quick tip: make sure you know the prices of common souvenirs sold in local shops before you go there, so you know how to make bargain. For example, a bottle of Mama Juana medicinal herbs is only $12 but maybe sold for $30 up there. So if you buy it for $15 from this guy, just think that it already includes his tip for taking your beautiful pics. FYI, Teleferico is handicap accessible.

    Love this place
Despite my fear of heights, I enjoyed the ride up the cable car, it was such a beautiful view. Once on top of the mountain, it feels like a rain forest and has beautiful scenery, caves and a nature. We enjoyed our 2nd time here just as much as the first.

Fantastic views, fun ride to the top, and peaceful time in nature
This was a highlight of our trip. The ride up in the cable car was stunning and the park at the top was beautiful. We could have taken much more time there having and admiring the peaceful scenery. The wait to go on the cable car took a little while due to tour groups and cruise ships but there was musical entrainment and a friendly vibe. Definitely go early to avoid crowds and catch a clear view

    It's a MUST!
Definitely a must do when in POP - views were amazing. We enjoyed the botanical gardens and lunch at the restaurant onsite. You can even drive up which is a nice option. Be prepared for long wait to get on the cable car.

    A must do!
A wonderful ride to the top. Very inexpensive, great views, and seemed safe. I just wish they didn't pack as many people in each car. It is very tight shoulder to shoulder which is uncomfortable these days with illnesses abound. Other than that, have fun but allow at least 1 1/2 hours from the time you arrive to the time you get back to the bottom; you may have to wait for a car with room for the return trip.

    A lovely attraction
We loved seeing the views, the cruise ship down below, and the beautiful flowers. The weather was perfect and we found it very restful. We enjoyed the music in the visitor center and the shops at the top. It was a great trip. $10 each.

Puerto Plata was the last stop of our cruise and we booked this tour last minute before leaving home - we are so glad we did. Alex is a knowledgeable and well-spoken guide. He really gives you a sense of history, culture and community. The first part of the tour consisted of the city then our small group broke into two. Those heading for the beach had their own dedicated guide while we were lucky to remain with Alex for a private tour. The van took us through the countryside up to the mountain where there was a noticeable drop in temperature. Views were fantastic and the cable car ride was surprisingly smooth. Once at the bottom our driver Albert greeted us and drove us and Alex back to the cruise port. Chilled bottled water, rum punch and freshly picked bananas were offered as refreshments and we were very comfortable in the air-conditioned van.

Views are great. Very organized & efficient. Wonderful views. Cheap thrills abound. This was the Santo Domingo trip. We’ve heard the Puerto Plata is more eventful.

Wonderful experience. It's a beautiful mountain ride in the cable car. We didn't get out into the botanical gardens, it wasn't on our tour, but we did have a great time with the folks making our photos with the Christ statue behind us. It's worth visiting the area.

It was a very nice experience, getting on the cable car was a challenge that I never thought I would achieve, I didn't feel afraid, the man driving took my seat when I told him I was nervous, but then I stopped to take photos and I didn't feel afraid at all, up there The view is indescribable, it is very beautiful, they have stores whose owners and employees are very friendly, I only have one suggestion and that is that the restaurant should be remodeled, accommodate more tourists, change the menu, there is very little they offer, I am Dominican but for tourists it is very reserved and the decoration should improve

Nice outing from the resort. Only took a few hours . Beautiful view and gardens up top. Felt safe in the gondola. Bring water and comfy shoes. This is not a tour for anyone with mobility issues. Lots of walking and stairs. I would also recommend going in the morning or later afternoon. It was very hot and surprisingly not much breeze. We hired Rene a taxi driver to take us there and back. He was great. He introduced us to Arthur a tour guide. He only gets paid in tips. Well worth it. He was informative, friendly and kept us on track. Over all a nice break from the resort .
We also stopped at Umbrella street. There is chocolate shop part way up it. I suggest buying the chocolate tea and hot chocolate. It is SO GOOD.
