We did this day tour from Dreams Spa and Resourt Punta Cana. We were told it would be a 1 hour 45 minutes journay, and we would be back by 5.30pm. In fact, both journeys were well over 3 yours each, which meant we spent nearly 7 hours of the 13 hurs day in the coach - plus time travelling between sites - and got back after 7 pm. Thankfully we had a very good and entertaining guide! The main attraction should be a visit to the new, modern museum but we only drove past this 'for security reasons' although it looked very quiet. The 'old historc area' is very run down, presumably due to previous poverty acorss the country. The included 'local lunch' was poor. Surely some of the tourist billions could be diverted to restoring some of what should be a very interesting, historic island? The Hispaniola day trip was just as long but a great day!

Just got back from Tui’s Santo Domingo exclusive. Cost £100 each therefore not a cheap trip. Includes a meal with drinks, which was ok,, water on the go & apparently breakfast which turned out to be a muffin, coffee & fruit juice, which was not enough. The tour guide was extremely informative & definitely knew his stuff however the day was very repetitive. The cathedral, house which Diego Columbus lived in, train ride & 4d film were good however this is all you needed. This whole day could of been condensed very easily into half a day. We walked round the old town twice, plus the train took you round too,,, telling you the same stuff you’d just been told!!!! The guide gave us an hour free time which was way too long. In fact did we need any?? Prior to this, he said he was going to show us some culture & takes us into a souvenir shop!!!! Was out for 12 hours in total & in my opinion the trip did not need this. Overpriced & dragged out.

So when I stayed at emotions resort in Santo Domingo we had a resort rep his name was Rio we met him a couple days later to learn more about the resort and to book excursions ...well beware of what this man offers you I was on vacation with my family there was 1e of us all ranging from the age of 20 to 70 .he gave us a run down on the excursions he had he offered us the sosua beach .I asked him do they have snorkeling he said yes they do I asked do they have beer on the cateraman he said yes they do cause I'm a beer drinker well let me tell you they had neither. If you are younger I would say go on this tour but of your older and want to snorkel and relax this is not for you cause snorkeling is not included and they don't off we beer they only have rum and the music is so loud that my mother that was 70 had to plug her ears many times ... They had a lot of locals on the cateraman that day and the way they danced for the older people was way to perocitive I was really disappoint with this excursion so I mad a complaint to air transit about the repersentive and they sent me back a message saying basically sorry for your luck
.. my advice is don't book excursions threw air transit they only want your money and sell false advertisement

It was a long trip from Punta Cana, but we are glad we went. You get a good feel for the country. One thing I do wish there was, was an actual market. We were taken to a "market in the city." I was expecting an outdoor market to haggle, but instead it was a normal tourist priced store. The one plus is it was tax free. Overall the tour guide was extremely knowledgable and the lunch was incredible: inside an old mine. Highly recommend this tour!

Once you arrive by air conditioned bus, you are ready for your foot tour through historic Santo Domingo. The city is grand and awesome. Our tour guide led us around town introducing us to locals, police and more. Great homes, history lined streets and old Jesuit Cathedral. Great stop at restaurant for lunch. Food was buffet and tasty. Staff there was awesome. Only negative I would say was our tour waited for the driver at many stops (usually we are waiting for someone on the tour). One time was 20 minutes as we all sat outside jewelry store while he chatted away inside. But guide was knowledgeable, spoke many languages and a help. Highly recommend this tour.

Great experience - got away from the beach and toured the capital city of the Dominican Republic. Saw the early castle of the Conquistadors, a show of Middle Age Spanish Fashion, got a great tour of the museum, then enjoyed the view from our bus while we drove past other interesting sights in this early city with the first Cathedral in the Americas and the first streets in the New World. Stopped for a fantastic lunch and some time for shopping. All in all a great way to spend your day!

Really nice excursion in French, English and Spanish.

At the first stop we have a little Shopping area with a Cigar and Chocolate museum where it is possible to buy products.

Thé next stop at the national park was a great discovery with the Los tres Oros cenote which are my favorite. Really great but not suitable for those who have difficulties walking as there are a lot of stairs.

Then we arrive to the city and the historical excursion started, it was very interesting and gave a lot of input for those who are interested in the American/Caribbean colonization. Johnny, the guide, was perfect and would always give anecdotes in the the languages, he also would answer our questions.

It was a really good day.

This was a very informative day trip to Santo Domingo. Our tour guide was named Munchi and our driver was Pina. They was fantastic. He did the tour in 2 languages. He was very informative about their culture and history and loved comparing it to other countries. We learned a lot. It included museum tours of Columbus' home, cathedral de Colomb, and a 4D theater about the battle of Santo Domingo. A great Dominican lunch was provided and they took us to a store to shop at with better prices than the resorts and airport. There is a long ride on an air condition bus about 2 hours and a lot of walking once you get there. But it was worth it. Great day.
