Santo Domingo is a city with old world charm and modern sophistication. You can find top quality restaurants in the downtown area which is comprised of a few neighborhoods (Naco, Piantini, Paraiso). The city views are spectacular and worth the time. I think this is the Caribbean’s only modern city (Maybe San Juan as well)

This city has some amazing scenery and is very cosmopolitan. I enjoyed taking pics of this attractive metropolis and can't wait to return in a few years to see the growing change. Everywhere you turn there's a new construction going on.

It amazes me how much this city has grown over the years and how it's skyline is shaping out to be one of the best in the region. It is true that the DR in 2015, was the only country in Latin America to grow economically at about 7% and that shows in its infrastructure. You can experience the great views of this growing and changing city from the JW Marriott Hotel's Vertygo 101 bar (rooftop bar /lounge/pool) and you can also go to Novo Centro and visit the mall's rooftop lounge to catch a glimpse of the city with a 360 panoramic view. In addition, you can go to the Anacaona Avenue which is right across from the Mirador Sur Park and walk around to see all of the skyscrapers that are lined up on that avenue.

Santo Domingo's Poligono Central (Downtown District) is the place to visit. The area is comprised of several affluent neighborhoods which includes Piantini, Naco, Paraiso and Yolanda Morales. The skyline in this area is beautiful and growing.

Santo Domingo is a vibrant, cosmopolitan, modern and ancient city. The Spanish colonial zone is the oldest area in the americas! while the downtown area of the city is the most cosmopolitan area in the caribbean.

The city skyline is probably one of the best in the entire Caribbean. This is one of the biggest cities in the islands and it shows. The city has a lot of modern architecture

Santo Domingo is the true metropolis of the Caribbean. It has dozens of 30 plus story buildings challenging notions of quaint tropical settings. Santo Domingo continues to rise and surprise visitors and locals.

This past week I took a trip to the bustling, beautiful and colorful city of Santo Domingo. This city stole my heart, and provided me with so many wonderful memories. I stayed in the luxurious JW Marriott Hotel which is located in the opulent neighborhood of Piantini (Downtown area). This district has so many delicious and fancy five star restaurants, excellent high end shopping options (blue mall, agora mall etc) and fun bars. I highly recommend staying in this district compared to the Zona Colonial.

It's always interesting to see each big city's skyline. My husband's client is located in downtown with sweeping views of the city and ocean views that are amazing especially with floor to ceiling windows. Our staff's hotel room view was a skyline view that he enjoyed very much. This city looks best a night and from the highest buildings or hotels you can find.
