Champagne beach is definitely must see! PH whale Watch did a great job to make it look very pretty and cozy. You can relax under freshly planted trees, walk around and enjoy a swim in the warm sea. On top of it there is a booking office where you can book different activities with Pam, Harry and their captain Kevin. I did with them snorkeling, diving and whale watching and had an amazing time! 100% recommended!

My husband and I were referred to Donnie's Water Sports at Champagne Beach by the manager of the place we were staying. He did not disappoint! He rented us snorkeling equipment and life vests and took us on an hour long tour for just $20. He was very informative, pointing out many types of fish and coral. He let us stop and play in the bubbles on the way out to the reef and on our return. I think he also just rents equipment, without the tour. He is a funny and knowledgeable guy, though, so the tour is worth it!

Very unique experience snorkeling in the bubbles. Beach area is an area less traveled so the crowd is small. Chairs available to rent, $2 admission fee, guides are available for $10 a person , snorkel gear is available for $10 /person. We have our own gear and did not use a guide. Bubbles are easy to find just watching what area the tours go to. Fish and coral were visible , just not large quantities.

I've done plenty of snorkeling and this was OK at best. Just to get in the water is challenge because of the crashing waves. Once in with the tour I kind of went on my own. There are jellyfish and you will probably get stung. I did about 5 or 6 times. Once we got to the bubbled it was pretty neat. You could feel the heat coming from them. I saw plenty of fish but nothing to spectacular. Before you book the snorkeling find out how rough it is. I think it's still worth the trip if your a pretty good swimmer. Definitely drink plenty of water!

When you get there and find it - it is great. However it is not that easy. Be warned. If you go in a taxi (as we did) it is a fairly long, very difficult walk along an extremely rocky beach.
The taxi will drop you off at a very nice area (small fee) with a bar and sunbeds but the bubbles are way up the beach. Where the buoys are.
I would recommend you go via boat. Much easier.
Snorkelling is not much better than anywhere else but the bubbles are worth seeing.

The beach doesn't look like much. Access via a staircase. Roadside parking. Gray sand and pebble beach. Bring water shoes to access the water. And then, we put on a mask and there, the magic happens... you see some fish, different and varied corals. A little further, bubbles.
No major difficulties for swimming. Be careful with your fins not to damage the reefs. Don't touch anything if you want to keep the site magical.

Of all the places we have snorkeling, we have never seen such a variety of different species of fish.
The Champagne bubbles were not so great the day we went, however it was worth it for the snorkeling.
Take one if the local guides that are there at the beach and ready to go. They were extremely welcoming and helpful!!
Go early! It gets crowded

Just returned from an amazing visit to the Champagne Beach. The water was clear and there were a surprising number of fish that rivalled our visit to Barbados the day before. The unique part of this visit are the bubbles coming up from the sea floor. They truly look like champagne and nothing like I had seen in the Caribbean ever before. We were able to rent a set of beach chairs and enjoyed sitting out in the sun.

Like another reviewer, we also encountered murky water. The bubbles were cool to see but the fish and coral were not exceptional. Unlike another review, the Dutch woman went out of her way to tell us about how to safely get in and out of the water. It didn’t help, we got roughed up anyway. I did a spin cycle and still have scrapes and bruises. It’s very rocky and hard to get in and out.
There is a local guy selling “entrance tickets”. I think he was renting out snorkeling equipment and maybe providing guides. It looks like he’s taking care of the beach- planting trees and such.

The water was murky the day we went and this paled in comparison to all the other great snorkeling on the island. But we also witnessed a very troubling incident, when the Dutch couple who ran one of the beach concessions tried to kick locals off part of the beach. If you go there, please support the other concession - run by a friendly local guy - and don't support the foreign business. The cruise ships use the Dutch couple, which is unfortunate, as there is no reason why local businesses should have to compete with wealthy foreign business owners, who were uptight and unfriendly.

Hi Sue, were there lockers for your bags etc?
thanks

e left everything in the minibus that we were travelling in. The tour guide told us to do this. There is nowhere to store any bags so just take what you really need

1. I've seen references to Bumping Tours, what is that?
2. How do we get from port to Champagne reef?
Going in Jan. 2017.
Thanks

Could anyone tell me if it would be possible to do both the champagne beach early morning but also the ti tou water fall trip the same day and get back to the cruise ship which usually want you back for 5 pm. Thank you in return for all answers.

it depends on the amount of time you have. you will need about 6-8 hours to do both. The only problem I see for you is that the Champagne beach gets very busy when a ship is in port, and the entrance into the water area of Champagne beach is very small. The water is packed with people, and the beach is packed with people as well. This is not your typical beach, no sand just rocks. My suggestion is just bring goggles and a snorkel, and definitely wear water shoes this will allow you to bypass everyone trying to put on their flippers, and get you in the water much faster.. Remember this area is very small and very rocky. However , when you are in the water, it is worth it. Spend about 20 minutes taking in the bubbles, and look at some fish, that are just average, and get going to your next stop.

Champagne Reef is a few miles away from the center of town. It is remote and the beach is hot black sand that is very rustic and small. There was nothing nearby. It is a snorkeling experience like no other in the Caribbean... not a beach experience.

My husband and I are on the Celebrity Equinox on April 22. Do you have room for 2 and how do we get to you?
Written 22 March 2015
We went with bumping tours also last April. We took an ALL Day tour (7 hours!) that added Champagne reef to the end for about $70. They have lots of other shorter tours to choose from also. I highly recommend this company and will do another tour with them again.

It is true, you can't walk there. One other option is to take a public bus to go to the beach, it costs 3EC$, the departure is next to the Ruins Cafe in King George V Street. Just tell the driver you want to go to Champagne Beach.
I think a taxi would cost you around 20US$
