Great place to learn about the Kalinago people´s history and Culture. We had a guide who told us a lot about the kalinago people. We also saw a dance show. Great handicrafts are sold directly by the women who makes it. Good prices.

The Carib territory (Kalinago Barana Aute) teaches history that you never knew before. From in the days before Christopher Columbus came to the Caribbean, you get a glimpse into the lives of the Amerindian people and their culture.Preserved in a natural habitat, its beauty is truly great. As you drive through the village you can stop and try the authentic... More

Not sure why this is called "Carib Territory" here as the locals prefer to be known as "Kalinago." Their tour is excellent and an important insight into the history of the island of Dominica and themselves. An enthusiastic guide told the story of the Kalinago, using displays at the first stopping point, and then took me to see a series... More

The tour starts of with a 20 min information session concerning the rise and eventually fall of the kailinago people. It was interesting to learn about the discovery of the 'new world' through the eyes of the native people. The walk through the kailinago mock village was interesting, however due to it being low season there was no local entertainment.... More

My wife and I have had the pleasure of visiting Dominica on a number of cruise stops. If you have never visited the island before you are in for a treat - unless you prefer the over hyped, over priced cruise tours. This is an island that's perfect for just appreciating the beauty of a tropical island and its wonderful... More

I came across these indigenous people on my search of things to do in Dominica. I am a Tour Guide from Barbados and culture is one of my specialties so visiting this territory was one of the highlights of my trip. Before I started the tour around the compound, I was oriented to a history lesson of the Kalinagos. The... More

Our tour of the Kalinago (Carib) territory and visit to the model village was interesting and fun to interact with the guides and villagers. Gives you a great perspective of the history of Dominica and the challenges of maintaining the Kalinago cultural identity. The casava bread was very tasty. Our group arranged to have lunch prepared for us on site... More
