While the water was calm, clear, and beautiful, this isn't really a beach. It is a man-made beach resort with a small strip of beach, a dock/pier you can jump from, and lots of loungers. Our disappointment is partially due to our lack of research...More

South of Willamstad are two neighbor beaches, Jan Thiel and Papagayo. We went to Jan Thiel beach on a Sunday afternoon. I think it was about $4 each to go in, and that includes parking. It was busy and there was hardly a lounge available....More

The beach was white and sandy, and the vibe of the area was relaxing and nice - but for a real beach experience I reccomend the beaches up west on the island

Such a beautiful beach with many dining options! I have stayed at papagayo several times and the beach never ceases to amaze. It is hardly ever crowded and the view is beautiful. Even good snorkeling right off shore
