Quaint lovely cobblestone town

Love the duty free shops and small little boutiques that invite you with their cute windows. Small restaurants are tucked in most unexpected places. The pontoon bridge is a... read more

This is the area that exemplifies Old Curacao. The buildings are well maintained and painted bright colors. As expected most of the shops cater to the heavy tourist traffic. Road traffic is limited with some streets pedestrianized. It is best avoided when large cruise ships are in port, typically Tuesday to Thursdays. The area comes alive after sunset when the... More

Love the duty free shops and small little boutiques that invite you with their cute windows. Small restaurants are tucked in most unexpected places. The pontoon bridge is a fantastic romantic view. Parking is hectic and pricey. But a lovely place

It was HOT and the merchants are all out selling little nick knacks that you buy and never use. Its just what you do when in the islands. I would say yes, go down buy a bag and stroll along the dock.

Punda is the older and better known of the two Willemstad areas (Punda and Otrabanda), it is so colourful with mostly red tiled roofs and each building colourfully painted and beautifully detailed. As you walk along the water you pass the boats of the floating market (fishermen and traders from Venezuela who travel 8 hours each way to bring fresh... More

Punda, across the canal from Otrobanda has a ton of little shops and stores and especially the farmers market with fresh fruits and veg. Expect the normal run of the mill stuff but there are some nice places that have handmade items for sale.

We spent a couple of hours walking round the area and having lunch on the waterfront. There are plenty of brightly-coloured buildings in the Dutch Caribbean style to admire as well as many cafes, bars and restaurants in which to take a break. If you are not on a cruise and time your visit when no ships are in port,... More

Punda (like much of central, historic Willemstad) is a surprising safe place to walk around and enjoy (I say this because I rarely visit any Caribbean city on my own and I did so here). Beautiful and colourful buildings everywhere. Be sure to walk by the Venezuelan floating market and visit the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue. Walk the relatively short length... More

Lovely restored buildings painted vibrant colours make a photographers' paradise. This area is being rejuvenated and has some picturesque bars and restaurants. Lovely place for a stroll at night or during the day.
