Overview
More
The Curacao Maritime Museum takes its visitors on a discovery tour of more then 500 years maritime history of Curacao. The story-line is illustrated through a permanent exhibition consisting of displays with authentic nautical charts, ship models and navigation equipment combined with audiovisual techniques...an attraction not to be missed. As well as the exhibition, the museum also offers a number of interesting tours. Besides a tour of the museum, a demonstration of the mini refinery, which is set up in a separate exhibition hall of the museum, can also be attended. In addition, a tour through the harbour can be made.

This museum is located in a nice historic building. It has a good collection of old maps and pictures, and tells the maritime story of Curacao. It has several wooden models of sailing ships, and archaeological material rescued from a 18th century wreck site. So...More

This museum was much more worth a visit than the Kura Hulanda one! Curaçao's complete maritime history is covered, from before the arrival of Europeans to the present day. There are lots of interesting artefacts on display, including things from the famous ship that sunk...More

Toured the museum and went on the harbour tour. The museum tour is a great history of the Willemstad. The building is essentially new and the exhibits are well thought out. Allow time for two highlights: A 25 minute video and an exhaustive picture collection...More

We both enjoyed watching the ships passing through the St Anna Bay and wondered where they all went, so we took the Museum's harbour tour. It was the best thing we did in Willemstad. This is a real, multifaceted working harbour, with an oil refinery, tanker...More

This is a compact museum packed with amazing history of the island, shipping, exploring and the slave trade. Spent much more time here than I expected and learned a lot. Well worth it if you have time available.

This small museum has welcoming staff, an informative video, and well maintained exhibits. There are three levels of material taking the visitor from the first days of maritime history until the present. The helpful exhibit descriptions are in multiple languages.

I found the most worthwhile part of this museum to be video overview (except for the limited and quite uncomfortable seating). The displays were poorly lit and the text wasn't anywhere near eye level......except for a child maybe. Different subject material altogether, but if...More

Plenty to see here and well explained in English and Dutch. Just across the bridge by the floating market, so close to Punda centre. Housed in the shell of a historic mansion.

This small museum explains the strategic importance of Curucao from colonial days up to the present. There's an interestin video that explains everything. Also there are lots of ship models to see and a nice summary of the history of the island.
