A lot of symbolism and history here,huge statue of General Maceo on horseback.Small museum built into the mound.The swords/ machetes are huge visit if you can.

Another revoloution square to be honest one of the better one's I visited.It can hold 80 thousand people and has some nice monuments.

On arrival at the square you are impressed by the enormous statue. Walk up to the horse rider and take photos looking back over the square. You do not need to spend a lot of time here.

The plaza itself is huge and a buit bleak but the sculpures are impressive (I think they are sabres) and there is an Eternal Flame

Do you mean from the city center? The Plaza is *in* Santiago de Cuba. It's at the entrance to the city! I don't recall the price of the taxi. Hopefully someone else can help!
