We went there by rental car like an hour before the supposed cannon shooting as I had read some comments to do so if we want to get a better view. It was totally abandoned! Absolutely no lights, no signs, no movement. Actually if it wasnt for the app we had installed on our cell, we probably wouldnt have found... More

Any local will tell you that you can set your watch at 9pm each night because that is when they fire the canon from El Morro. Get there plenty early to see the museum and stroll up to where they fire the canon early. Unless you're willing to go an hour early, you won't get a front row view, but... More

Beautiful (as long as you put blinders on to all the trash and hold your nose in certain areas). Definitely worth a visit to this side if you are staying in Havana. It's only a short taxi ride and you can make one trip and see El Christo, Che's house and the outdoor military museum while you're here.

Part of the one day colonial day tour of new and old Havana included a brief stop at El Morro. Even a brief stop is loaded with sights well worth seeing. The cuban cigar store located here was thoroughly enjoyable. Historic surroundings, great views of the waterfront and city... Spend time here if possible. It is a great tourist stop.

We strolled along the waterfront, reaching this gorgeous landmark. There are a lot of cool old boats in that canal and with El Morro as a backdrop, you can get some very good photos. The wall extending along the canal is neat to see, but I wasn't inspired enough to go to the site itself for a visit - the... More

This open old fort is a fantastic stop in Havana. There are beautiful views of the malecon, the city and the water. Lots of history and some of the signage has English translations. There is a canon shot at night, but you really need to visit and tour during the day.

Great place to take photos of Havana. Built to protect the entrance to Havana Harbor the structure is wonderful to walk around and see some of the old artillery.

I agree with Ronald L below that it is viewed great from across the canal. I would not say that it was disappointing up close, but it was not something I would have gone to in a cab just to go. When paired with the Christ statue and the Che museo, I thought it was a good trio of things... More
