Very nice!!

Very nice part of the city. There is the church of San Francisco which is a venue hall now. There is a nice cafe around there.

Worth a stroll. Nothing out of the ordinary but the church is an impressive site. There are also a few good art galleries surrounding it. If you want to get a cool convertible tour you can pick up a car here... Should be $25 per/hr.

Across from the harbour is the Plaza de San Francisco which owes nothing to its California namesake but from the Franciscan convent built there and dates from 1575. It is dominated by the 18th century basilica with a fantastic 140 ft. tower, the tallest in Havana. Opposite there is an impressive building "Lonja" which was formerly the stock exchange now... San Fransisco de Asis Square is old but clean and a feast for the eyes. A nearby art gallery was an eyeful for me but would have satisfied rock hard men who like arty porn. Sort of goes with Havana - you can take this city any way you like, look at its colourful buidlings, be ashamed at how they... More

This is a great place to pick up a taxi or get dropped off, and also a central point to walk to the marketplace and into Habana Vieja. Lots of sights around so a good central spot for tourists (if you need a landmark).

If you want to find a place to watch people, to sit at an outdoor cafe and to see impromptu street performances, this is the place to be. It is the complete experience. Cobblestones, flights of birds fluttering overhead, and plenty of people.

This square at the harbour end has lots of activity but on closer inspection it suffers from the neglect

Beautiful square in Old Havana. The church itself is worth a visit. Look up in the rafters when headed up stairs to the bell tower to see bats!

While interesting from an architetctural point of view, the statue of a monk with a small native amerindian serves as an inadvertent reminder of the self-righteous cruelty with which the Spanish conquered the island, killed off the inhabitants and bought in slaves from Africa. This dark history deserves more attention.

This is a very beautiful place which reminds us of Spanish colonial times. One of the most beautiful squares in Havana.
