    North tour 1
We rented a car and did our own tour. It worked well. Pleased take in account that there are in the North not many open facilities to have lunch. The first stop was 1000 steps. A nice overview for taking pictures.

Worth a stop if you can avoid the cruise ship crowds
We went early to beat the crowds and saw some turtles and a stingray while snorkeling. The southern side of the beach is a nesting ground for sea turtles so you are likely to see some. Beautiful beach and the entry was relatively easy.

This was by far my favorite view. Loved it and I made it back up. The beach was coral and not sand. The water, omg... Could spend days here. Highly recommend if you visit Bonaire.

    Quite enjoyable snorkeling
1000 steps is very popular place, we always tried to get there early in the day to avoid the crowds. Our main objective was snorkeling, the entry in on the left side, when facing the ocean, marked by boulders. We found the snorkeling being more interesting on the left side, with better corral. Almost always ran into turtle or two, and if you swim further away from the main beach, you will most likely enjoy the natures wonders without other people, who tend to stick to few meters away from the shore.

    1000 Steps to nice snorkeling
Great snorkeling!!! Saw numerous parrot fish and a couple sea turtles! Would definately return. Used a cart from Bonaire Cruisers to get there and back from a short walk off the cruise ship.

Loved the Thousand Steps Beach
The view is amazing and the water has easy access for snorkeling. We rented a boat and tied out on Klein Bonaire
There are only 5 or 6 moorings so you have to be quick . The beach there is fantastic!

Us - mid sixties snorklers.
Taking pictures of multi-hued Parrotfish from a 30’ tall cliff at the end of the southwest trail was cool.
Checking out the birds at the Cadushy distillery was neat.
Getting blasted by 20’ tall wave wash at the blow hole was unique.
Driving a 5-speed manual pick-up through a rain soaked national park is like a Dakar rally.
There is no barrier reef, so wave action can leave sandy beach access snorkelers in siltier water than their rocky beach (or boat) access counterparts. Must have water socks.
Folks are uber friendly and the island is very clean in most places.
Watch for free range chickens, iguanas, goats and donkeys when driving on back roads.
Flamingoes are all over the flats.
US currency is the norm.
E-scooter snorkeling from WassUp is the best way to see the Salt Pier. Elora will take care of you. Get their activity map for $10.
The short rib at the Brewery is excellent!
The beef carpaccio at The Dock is great.
Watching the wind surfers race each other from Sebastian’s deck is a good way to knock back a couple of Amstel Brights.

Great snorkelling location! Be prepared to walk back up the stairs! Seashells all over the beach but the rocky entrance into the water is not terrible. We saw tons of fish and a couple sea turtles.

We loved this snorkel spot! We went out to explore enjoying the beautiful corals and fish… and then on our last time out to the deeper waters saw two sea turtles!

Small “beach” area, 90% broken coral, 10% sand. Due to mostly coral waterline, it is difficult and awkward to enter and leave the water for snorkeling. The drive to 1,000 steps is scenic.
