This is certainly the busiest beach in Barbados. I went to this beach for an excursion. I would consider this beach a tourist trap. Way too busy and noisy, The vendors are pushy on the sand and in the water. If you want a quite peaceful day, this is not the beach for that. If you want an upbeat party vibe, it's perfect. I prefer Accra Beach...there are booths with drinks and vendors when you need and you can get a chair and umbrella for $15 us. No hassle. Tons of friendly locals just doing their thing but no harassment. The men running the excursions at Browns that are pre-booked are friendly and kind. The Savvay bar had tons of flys...it was disgusting. I have been to many beach bars and never seen anything like it.

I quite enjoy going to Brown's beach and had three visits on this trip. The first was just a gentle stroll on the beach whenI Ieft Bridgetown one days as it's very near by. Second time was for a late afternoon swim where I was fortunate enough to see the sun set fro the water. Gorgeous. The third was for a very early morning dip. Calm, blue waters as always. Easily accessible on number 11 bus route, short walking distance from Bridgetown and free car park. Free Wifi on beach.

From the cruise ship terminal it is about a 30 minutes walk through the town, we have been before, so we knew the sand and sea is beautifully clean. We paid $20 for 2 sun lounges and an umbrella with a bar just behind us selling ice cold local beers with music playing. The sea was warm and pleasant to swim in and there was plentiful taxis nearby to take you back quickly to the cruse ship if you didn’t fancy walking back.

Its an excellent beach to spend a day or an hour. Sea is always beautiful and calm. an excellent fish cutter and drinks can be had for a very reasonable cost. As well as chairs and umbrellas for rent. Go and have a peaceful Bajan day.

Sun beds 5 deep stretching for a long way with no room between them and the surf to put a towel and once in the water constantly looking out for jet ski’s and the like. For some it’s heaven, for us its hell. What we wish is for a compromise where you have a couple of rows or sun beds and then an area for everyone else before the ocean. We ended up going north a few meters outside a hotel construction site which was fine until the bulldozers started up.
What made this a real shame for us was the fact that there is a great bar at Savy on the Beach and behind it a load of food outlets serving great local dishes. So we had a bad beach experience but a great lunch experience……..

Visited a couple of times on this trip. One was a daytime visit as we lounged at The Boatyard. Crystal clear waters. Turtles if you venture out far enough and lots of water based activities Second was for a sunset walk along the length of the beach one Sunday evening. There were lots and lots of youth and very loud music. Had to doge a people as we walked - had never seen it that busy before. Still it was amazing as ever watching the sun set and getting my feet wet as I walked at the shore's edge.

Browne's Beach was our last stop on our beach day while visiting the island on a cruise. We rented a car and visited 8 different beaches on the island.
We visited later in the day before returning to the cruise ship and it was not busy at all. There were some loungers to rent but we wanted to swim and set up our beach blanket instead.
The water was calm, clear and great for swimming and snorkeling. We found a few turtles pretty quickly. There is also a shipwreck nearby but we didn't end up checking it out.
This was our favorite beach for swimming and snorkeling during our visit. If you are planning a beach day and want to see video footage of this area check out our YouTube Channel Explorcation. Our Barbados Beach day includes footage from eight different beaches on the island.

We went on a Tuesday and perhaps had the best day of our lives. We entered by the basketball court and hooked a left and got beach chairs and an umbrella at the Nautilus Ocean Club. Cost $25 but included 2 rum punches and $15 credit for lunch. Lunch was fabulous too. Cold drinks right there, bathrooms, and the most incredible beach you will ever experience. We had the beach pretty much to ourselves . Now tomorrow could be a different story as I understand cruise ships will be in port, but definitely try a Tuesday. We are going back Thursday as we want to swim out with our snorkel gear to the ship wreck. Only negative about going is it makes our resort beach pretty lame lol.

I have been coming to Barbados for 20
Plus years and never been here!
It’s incredible - clear water that is shallow for some way out.
Book beds with Ocean Breeze, they will give you their number and you can pre book.
Toilets there are clean.
Roberta cocktail van does variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They will provide a ice bucket or cool bag.
Definitely recommend.

The sea is undoubtedly amazing here, very calm, very azure and very chilled. Two beds plus umbrella slightly more expensive, $40 US for two beds. The sea is great, it’s calm etc but there’s not a lot of atmosphere here, sun beds are too close together too, common in Barbados though.

Are they any hotels in walking distance to Browns beach? Love that beach but stayed at Accra and took a cab there.

Hi
Are there any issues with sewer problems in the ocean water around Browne's beach?
Dave
Written 11 November 2018
No, Brown's Beach is a very clean well kept beach. There are no problems with sewage, seaweed nor garbage of any kind. You will find that the facilities are well monitored, the beach attendants are always willing to help.

I'm just wondering about security. Will we need to worry about our phones, cameras, etc left on the beach while swimming and snorkelling. We have had some things taken while on a different island and it has made us a little nervous.

There are vendors selling wares and people roaming on the beaches - so you should not leave anything out. If you have valuables - the public beach does have a security guard at the wash house and there is a life guard shack...also the beach chair $5/pp if you find them can hold on to your stuff.
Might recommend going to the boat yard $25 US per person, includes chairs and there is a full bar/restaurant onsite - they can secure any any valuables
