This is obviously a special place to visit, especially during the mating and breeding season. Do respect the markers and don't go too close (and tell off anyone who does) - worrying the birds just pushes them further back over time and will eventually cause...More

Had a day on The Excellence. The bird sanctuary was an optional part of the trip. Wasn't too bothered about going, but the other option was more time on the beach. So glad I went. Speedboat ride to the sanctuary was refreshing. Then to see...More

We had visited Galapagos and had seen the frigates there. The frigate sanctuary in Barbuda far surpasses what the Galapagos has insofar as frigates. Must see!

If the pictures don't convince you keep in mind that most of the people visit this place as a part of of the 17 Mile Beach combo with its beautiful sandy beaches and amazing turquoise waters. The sanctuary is about 10-15m small motor boat ride...More

I think Barbuda has many more birds in residence than people. This is a worthwhile activity if you are on Barbuda, or stop at Barbuda (cruise, or ferry from Antigua). A trip by boat across the lagoon brings you close in to the bird sanctuary...More

A short ride in a fishing boat through the lagoon to the sanctuary. Guides were most informative and the birds were fascinating. A must see if you're in Barbuda.

A great trip on small boats with informative guides to see the Frigates mating season had just started so it was great seeing the males puff up their red chests and make the mating calls to attract the females to partner with them. Awesome birds...More

My husband and I visited the bird sanctuary in March 2016. We got close to the birds and saw the amazing red breasted males! It was awesome! I would highly recommend a visit to the bird sanctuary while in Barbuda.
