Great hiking spot, cool view. Very isolated not a tourist packed spot, very tranquil and peaceful. You can go down to the Spanish lagoon too .

Old English gold mine with historical value for the island's history. Interesting to get to know about the history, see the ruins and hear about the past of building this place and how to produce the gold.

We stayed near Spanish Lagoon and visited the Balashi gold mill ruins as part of our birding tour with birdwatchingaruna.com to see the ruby topaz hummingbirds there. We were not there for the gold mil ruins, but they made an interesting backdrop for photos. Lots of wildlife nd birds near the Gold mill and Spanish Lagoon including upside down jellyfish and thousands of hermit crabs having battles over rocky perches in the water. There is also a burrowing owl nest, so please take care and keep your distance form it. The owl population has drastically declined in recent years due to UTV and mountain bikes running over them and smashing the burrows. The burrowing owls are a national bird of Aruba and the decline in population is horrifying.

As others have said, this is worth a stop if you are in the area, but not worth a trip otherwise. As we drove the northern part of the island in our Jeep, we were excited to have something to explore and climb on. There is even a bathroom ($1), which was a welcome site! Also, a vendor selling food/drinks. You can get some good pictures here, but it would be better if there was more historical information.

This was on ok stop, but not a must do. Interesting ruins, and a good place to take some pictures. If you have a car and are out and about, make a short stop and take a look.

This place was interesting historically, but it is literally only a couple of stone walls without information or visitor center of any kind. The shore next to the ruins is a beautiful location with a shore strewn with rocks. Would be a naturally beautiful view of the shore and ocean... if literally EVERY single rock wasn't stacked into a "wish stack". I mean come on, can we just leave nature in its natural state instead of acting like dogs marking our territory every time there are a few rocks laying around to stack? By the way, stacking rocks does not make wishes come true or whatever nonsensical meaning people attach to these stacks! It only further ruins the natural beauty left on our planet with superstitious "wish graffiti"! So go see the ruins, but kick over a few rock stacks while you are there to help restore the shore to a more natural looking state.

We had our own vehicle so stopping at this location was easy after seeing the fallen bridge. Nice place to walk around and on the ocean. We drove down the beach for a long time but had to turn back as we couldn't' get there from here.

A great historical treasure. Loved the pictures we took. Great view of the ocean too. A snack truck is there to the side if you need drinks or food.
