We booked a taxi tour that brought us here. Its actually part of a National Park. We paid about $8 US and we had admittance to the Dockyard areas and Shirley Heights. Totally worth it. Many nice pictures in this area. In fact we wish we had more than a 1/2 hr at each location to look around. The old... More

Great to see historic sight in use, hotel, cafe, bakers, museum, and lots of large impressive modern yachts . Well preserved old buildings and a catch up on Antiguan and British history, splendid views to surrounding hills. must see on any visit to this island.

A modest charge made at Shirley Heights also gives admission to this historic site. It houses some amazing marine craft We strolled around and stopped of for a drink at one of the bars. It is also served by good places to eat.

Nelson's Dockyard is definitely worth a visit. It was nice to see the beautiful old buildings nicely maintained. The museum is small, but very interesting. We enjoyed walking around the docks and browsing in the shops. We also had a lovely lunch there.

One of the best historical sites Antigua has to offer, Nelson's Dockyard National Park has been at the center of Antigua's activity since the first settlers arrived there in 500 BC. Today, however, the centerpiece of the park is the actual dockyard itself, originally developed as a base for the British Navy in 1725. It is the only Georgian dockyard... More

The last remaining English Harbour of its day in the Caribbean. Worth seeing for its part in defending the Caribbean Islands as part of a series of defence forts. Well situated for sighting your enemy and defending the territory. Some areas restored and some ruins of other buildings.

You can certainly spend a few leisurely hours wandering around the area – especially if you add breakfast, brunch or lunch into the day. Yes, there is an element of commercialisation to the place – but something has to pay for the restoration and preservation of the buildings. Most of the buildings have been converted to tourism usage (shops, restuarants... More

Depending on where you are staying it is a pleasant experience to visit Nelsons Dockyard, there is a museum detailing the British arrival in Antigua and the history of the place thereafter . The original buildings have been refurbished and there is a sense of time gone past. The roads in Antigua are poor and it is fairly remote but... More
