This hike is an easy trek. You can add on a bit of excitement by going over the hill on which the Fort stands and cross over the shallow water and onto another small island. The views of St. John's Harbour and the morning sunrise are magnificent from Fort Barrington.

Cool hike up a hill. Make sure you do it early morning and you at least wear sneakers. Awesome view of the island and probably only takes about 20-25 minutes to get to the top. We did it with 4 kids 10 and under.

It’s a nice short walk up to the fort. A little steep near the top but if you take your time it’s fine. Coming down is a little trickier again just take your time and you’ll have no problems. It’s well worth the effort to see the views at the top. The beach below “Deep Bay” is lovely, very quiet, however, pretty much all are at the minute due to Covid travel restrictions. Also there’s parking at the bottom which is easy to get to.

We hiked this fort from the Royalton. The hike starts easy enough but then gets quite steep. Depending on your footwear, you may have to get on your hands and scramble up some parts. Definitely not good to wear flip flops. The fort is quite small and has a few rooms that you can venture in but the smell of urine is overwhelming. These rooms were definitely used as pit stops for some people. The view is also nice. You get to see a panoramic view that overlooks the Royalton resort as well as the ocean and the bay. You can continue to hike past the fort and it beings you down closer to the edge of the peninsula closer to the water. A nice pastime but nothing mind blowing.

After spending an hour looking up at the fort while sat on the beach, decided to take a walk to the top of Fort Barrington. Its a bit of a scramble in places and trainers are recommended over flip flops. Its a short climb and well worth it for the superb views over the ocean, beach and lagoon. There's not much to the fort itself but if you are so inclined you can keep walking towards the national park of the same name.

The fort sits on top of goat hill and it is the only fort in Antigua that saw military action. It’s purpose was to protect St. John’s Harbour. It is a short walk uphill and it overlooks Deep Bay Beach. Please do not touch the Manchineel Trees! Also, be aware of what they look like as they are poisonous.

Nice hike up a hill to a wonderful view. We had a guide from the Roylaton hotel and it was helpful to know where to climb safely. It takes only 15-20mins to go up, and you need good sneakers because it is steep and can be slippery. Quite adventurous but fun and the view is well worth it.

I would say this a must do for anyone visiting Antigua. The views from the top were beautiful. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the top. It's not far but you have to be careful as it's easy to lose your footing. At the beginning you have to hold onto a rope to haul yourself up. There are no proper paths either. Not recommended for anyone pregnant, with young children or the elderly.

You’ll get good views of surrounding areas such as Deep Bay beach, Williams Place and Galley Bay beach.
We were staying at the Royalton so getting here wasn’t difficult. It took us about 25 minutes to get to the summit. The hike itself is not difficult, you’ll need a fair amount of balance and there’s a rope to help you up the most challenging part of the climb.

Go here for sure. Lots of history and beautiful views. No information signs but look at wiki and it will tell you about it. Medium challenge hike up a steep hill. At the time there was a rope mid way for the most challenging part. Do the place a favour and take litter back with you. I picked up other people’s on the way back and deposited in my resort. Guessing fellow tourists. Bring a bottle of water and take your time. About 45 mins round trip. Short walk from the Royalton or if not staying there there’s a dirt road leading to it from the south east.
