You can get to the town by a very local train service out of Viterbo or park you car on the edge of town and walk up to these gardens. It is claimed that the French Royal Family visited these gardens which became the inspiration...More

Visiting this attraction not far out of Viterbo on a late May Sunday afternoon, we found it much quieter than we expected. We navigated into Bagnaia centre and up the Via Jacopo Barozzi to park roadside within a few metres of the main gate. It...More

These gardens are just a stone's throw from the main square of Bagnaia and quite a surprise! As you walk into the gardens just past the main entrance, there is no clue to the scale of the geometric layout of the gardens until you start...More

Pretty formal gardens, lots of information avaialble in English and Italian explaining what you see what you see. We did expect to see more than just one room in each part of the villas. Lots of shade on a hot day. Lots of steps too!

Well worth the 5 euro entrance fee. Beautiful terraced gardens and a more wild section. There is not much to see in the two pavilions but there are lovely fountains and water-features.

This garden can still amaze and impress us in the 21st century. I was blown away by the beauty of Villa Lante’s garden. The fountains, water cascading down from the upper terrace, a stone picnic table with a small channel of water in its centre,...More

Formal Italian garden dating from 16th century. The villa was used as a summer retreat. There are 4 levels in the garden with different fountains at each level. From the top is a beautiful view over the whole garden and the countryside beyond. Well worth...More

We drove an hour and a half to the villa today only to find a hand written note on the gate saying it was closed due to being open the previous day (Easter Monday). There was nothing on the offical website about this. Why bother...More

Very nice and special green gardens with water fountains and a nice labyrinth. Admission 5 Euros. The gardens outside the resort are free . Takes an hour to go around .

A pleasant springtime trip with old friends in the history and beauty. What a pity the lack of maintenance to plumbing that would report to the ancient splendors fountains and water features.

Sometimes you can find a spot outside the church. However before you get to the center on the right is a car park. I believe you will need to pay for a spot. I was lucky and found a free street spot, but a bit of a walk.
We shall be visiting Viterbo in May 2017. Is there some means of public transport from Porta Romana in Viterbo to Villa Lante, please? We are a couple of senior citizens. Thanks for the information.

from porta romana no but from the main bus station in viterbo "sacrario" you can catch a number 6 bus to Bagnaia which takes you right to Bagnaias main square and it's 10 second walk away to villa Lante hope this helps 👍
