Had a good sighter of Benoa Harbour and surrounds prior to boarding our cruise ship. Plenty of activities underway with parasailing, windsurfing, markets, local sightseeing cruises, etc. Many friendly locals. A Cruise Centre surrounded by taxi touts and drivers but thankfully kept at a respectable distance by efficient security. Free WiFi in the Cruise Centre. There is some nice scenery surrounding the harbour; plenty of inter-island ferries, cargo ships, pleasure boats in a range of sizes and values on the water. The usual vendor stalls have established a foothold and there is quite an interesting art market to browse. A lot of funds have been expended in recent years in improvements and providing better access. Shame that damage to footpaths, roads, etc. is apparently ignored, a good maintenance programme would add to the amenity of the area. Worth a visit but there are definitely a lot more attractions to prioritise in Bali.

As a keen photographer or just for a interesting afternoon,or just for the sake of going for a different walk where you will see beautiful sunsets, see the fresh fish come off the boats, see there amazing fishing boats and if you are as lucky as I was you will meet some amazing people that love a chat and the photo's being taken

I would like to suggest you to negotiate the price with this uniform driver. Please negotiations in said the wall just step out from the port little bit. They work with driver Benoa Bahari Driver Organization. They has his name hanging on his pocket with the queue number. If you have any problems with those driver please report to port security. That driver will got reprimand from port police not to stand by for another 3 cruises.

If you negotiations out side of the wall will so many driver will come to you. They have no taxi around the port.

On the way back to the port from Kuta or seminyak you can have a taxi or if your driver are good you can tell him to pick you again.

Thank you.

This Harbor is busy for water sports include The Iron Man attraction. So fun! Clean beach, many operators here but be careful with personal operator.

Good also for photography. I come here just for photography and interaction with the locals.

We arrived in Bali in a cruise ship feeling very excited about visiting what promised to be a beautiful island. The Balinese taxi drivers soon ruined everything to the extent that I will be happy if I never go back to Bali again.

I thought it strange that the cruise line hadn't laid on shuttle buses but it turned out the taxi drivers have such power that the ships are not permitted to book coaches as shuttles. We set foot outside the dock gates and we were mobbed. A seething mass of taxi drivers set upon us and would not leave us alone, several walking with us for a good ten minutes until we agreed to use one. At one point they separated me from my husband and he literally had to hit them off to get to me because he could see I was getting frightened by their behaviour. I hated every moment of the "tour" with the "winning" taxi. I couldn't get over the mob behaviour. It really shook me. When we returned to the ship we discovered that several people were so upset by the behaviour of the drivers that they simply went back on board - all of those high spending tourists too scared by the taxi drivers to go ashore - they weren't prepared to out up with it. How short sighted! A lot if money that could have gone into the economy simply stayed on the ship purely because of the mob mentality of these idiotic - but frightening - taxi drivers

Hell on the Sand.

You cant swim in the water as there are speed boats swirling all around you with the drivers taking no heed of those brave enough to enter the sea. Should you manage to get 50 meters into the swirling water then you are likely to be hit by a Banana Boat or similarly named inflatable object or even flat bottom boats offering, at exorbitant prices, trips out to the overrated coral reefs, all providing enjoyment to the vast amount of thrill seeking tourists that arrive in their hundreds for a few hours of inflicting torture on any one that wants to lie on the Beach.

Lie on the Beach....that's a joke as you are likely to get a para-sailing selfie photographing tourist landing on your head and scaring the daylights out of anyone that wants to soak up the Balinese sun.

Quickly pack your belongings and head off for a snack and a beer to escape the tourist hordes... but Where??? ........no snack bars or restaurants in sight. Call it quits and head back to your hotel swimming pool or drop into Meads Beach Bar & Restaurant which is about the only decent bar on this strip.

When you arrive at the harbour precinct there are two areas on the left side you will find the main terminal for tourist arrivals and on the other is the fishing boat harbour. We visited the fishing harbour and found it very interesting, we were amazed by the poor condition of the actual wharfs, and you needed to be careful as the wooden structures were in need of repair. The fishing trawlers were plentiful and coloured depending on the company they belong to. They seemed to be tied to each other, the first next to the wharf, then one after the other out into the water in some cases 10-12 deep.
We stopped next to a smaller fishing trawler that was unloading fish from its hull, this was a labour intensive activity, with men filling a net with fish in the hull and others on the deck assisting to bring it to the surface, then finally there was a young man using a rope and pulley system to heave it from the boat to a small truck.
Overall the experience was worthwhile, the chance to see the wharf being used, the many fishing trawlers in various colours that looked similar to what I would describe as “Chinese Junks”, all made for a great new experience.

I was among many others disembarking from a cruise in Bali on December 4th 2019.
The only way to leave the cruise terminal was by local taxi.
The local Taxi drivers had obviously all agreed on prices and the best we could find was $30 US to Nusa Dua, This at least three times the cost in a metered taxi.
Other taxis and all other forms of transport were not allowed inside the port area.
My normal transport in Bali is by Blue Taxi (metered) but there were none of these to be found.
I was very disappointed in the Bali Government for permitting this abuse of power and will always arrange for collection by a suitable car + driver in the future.

You have been warned.

This is a place of marinas where people go to park their boats. It has a distinctly industrial look and feel to it. No reason for a temple-and-beach regular Bali tourist to come here. I was just there to seek out a lighthouse, or I would not be there.
