A lot of tourists come here, try to go early in the morning. The beautiful church was painted by the famous Nicolae Grigorescu, so it is completely different compared to all the others in the region. Full of flowers everywhere

Best monastery from Bucovina. Very well preserved and most of all very well organised, clean, and you can see the hand from the nuns. Quiet and excelent for meditation. We didnt see the museum, it was closed, but you can buy sweets: sirup and marmelade and its better than all the bracelets or other made in china souvenirs

The Agapia Monastery it is one the the most important nuns monastery from Romania. It was founded between 1641-1643. What make it famous in the world are the frescoes painted by the great painter Nicolae Grigorescu. Everything what is connected with that monastery means beauty, spirit, peace and serenity. We talk here about flowers, buildings, paintings, carpets, books, many things made by the nuns. Here it is a oasis for collectedness and rest of the spirit. Come and see the blue sky above you from the courtyard of the Agapia Monastery.

A complete self-satisfactory monastery where you can find Museum, bakery, food production...
Here you can get an impression of how monarchs and noons are living. The church is small but very well decorated in orthodox style.

In October of 1987 I first came up the road to see Agapia, and this last visit was even better than the first. We were treated to meeting several of the nuns and able to see them work their arts on tapestries and rugs. They showed us their crafts and beautiful grounds and also their dedication to their faith and each other. We had a wonderful meal of fresh food and veggies in the communal dining room which also opened to a view of the surrounding forested hills.Take the time to visit and meet these wonderful serene people.

One of many monasteries in the area...but with hosting some 500 nuns a very lively one. Make sure to be at the right time and see one of the nuns 'hammering around'during prayer time. Has also one of the best maintained museums with many paintings, carpets, books, etc. And the attention to detail outside plus all the flowers on each balcony a little paradise on earth.

Among the other monasteries that you could find in this region, Agapia is the most special. The inside was painted by the the famous Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu, and the paintings are very different from all Romanian churches and monasteries. Inside the complex you have the chance to visit a small museum and the memorial house of the famous Romanian writer, Alexandru Vlahuta and other other paintings of Nicolas Grigorescu. Enjoy the beautiful sites!

Agapia Monastery is one the most important Orthodox nuns convent in Romania, initially built between 1641-1643 and later expanded. The monastery is famous around the world due to its interior frescoes painted in 1858 by the great Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu (one of the founders of modern Romanian painting).
The monastery's beauty, peace of mind and serenity can be sensed by the people visiting it. All the flowers, paintings, carpets, and books made by the nuns support those feelings of being into a real oasis of tranquility.
The Agapia Monastery complex is a true architectural jewel, combining the characteristics of the Byzantine style with Neoclassic and Romanian style. The monastery's museum has a collection of medieval art, religious objects and a library with old books and manuscripts.
