The one hour trek to Penchalakona falls was awesome. My kids enjoyed it. It is a scenic route with less crowd and pollution. We also went to Penna river dam while coming back. Nice village route.

I have visited Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in May 2016. We were lucky that weather was in our favour due to unexpected Rains in Penchalakona. I travelled by APSRTC bus from Hyderabad to Rapur thinking that its a direct connection. But the bus being a "Super Luxury" bus was not comfortable. Its better to either take a train or Multi Axle Volvo/Benz/Scania Bus upto Nellore. I saw good Komitla buses on the way. There are buses going from Nellore to Rapur every 30 min starting from 4:30 AM in the morning. The earlier you reach the better, if you are planning to attend kalyanotsavam at the Temple which starts at 10:30 AM daily. Its takes about 90 min to 120 min to go to Rapur from Nellore. From Rapur buses go towards Penchalakona every hour from 7:30 AM. Its 1 hour Journey.
We stayed at the Devasthanam Guest house.I called them before going , only to be told that there is no advance booking. When i reached their office near the Temple and asked for accomodation, i was told that there are no rooms and asked me to go to Private Lodge. Then when i walked to the guest house (2 storey bldg) on the right side when going to temple, i saw one family vacating. I immeduately went to office with a request to give their room. Reluctantly the same person told that he has key with him for only one room in ground floor and gave it to me. I thanked him nevertheless. Its a spacious One Bed suite but not kept well. They do not give any bedsheets or pillow covers nor seem to change the old ones. So better carry some bedsheets and air pillows for hygiene sake.
When visiting the Temple a pious man has given following advise:
1. First visit Gonupalli Swamy Temple before coming to Penchalakona. We saw it while going in bus. Its about 5 kms from Penchalakona
2. Visit Hanuman Temple, Adi Lakshmi Devi temple and then Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in that order
Temple closes around 12:30 pm and there is no activity till 04:00 pm. Before going to this Temple, i suggest that you buy Flowers and Fruits from Rapur itself as they are not available in Penchalakona. Coconuts, kumkum and Agarbathi's are sold in a stall adjacent to the Temple. They do keep some mallepulu and bananas in limited quantities. But they get over by 11AM especially on Sundays and holidays. I saw lots of cows from nearby villages wandering in and around temple. Though i ordered bananas to feed them for the next day in advance at the stall, he could not procure them due to winds and rains.
All the three temples have high energy levels and ideal places for meditation as there is not much disturbances from excessive crowds. Kalyanotsavam can be attended by anyone but if you want to participate in the ritual a charge of Rs 1116/- is levied. Adi Lakshmi devi Abhishekams are done every Friday and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Abhishekams are done every Saturday ( Earlier this was done on all days).
Devasthanam provides Anna Prasadam daily during lunch time. Food options otherwise in this place is very limited. Afternoon meals were provided by one family having a hotel shack on the main road. For breakfast and evening snack only bonda's, dosa's and vada's are available near bus stop. Also for dinner, you will only get Dosa, Chapathi or Parota in a Reddy Hotel near bus stop. Filtered drinking water is available in plenty through a Water Filtration Plant set up by Srimata Vijayeshwari Devi foundation. However this water is dispensed thru the shops on the road.
They also have their beautiful Ashram built in Penchalakona. Its worth spending some time in the meditation hall. They also provide accomodation , slightly better maintained but definitely more neat and airy, at a cost of Rs 600/- per day. However draw back is that their rooms are little over 1 km away from the Temple and in hot summer this can prove to be an ordeal. Booking for accomodation here can be enquired at 0091-89855 85825 OR 0091-8621-221613.
I am also attaching few photographs showing APSRTC bus time table and Temple programs for your reference.

Please ensure you arrive at the temple before 12 noon in order to have a darshan. They reopen the temple for afternoon darshan only at 3 PM. If you wish you may also rent an accommodation for Rs300. It takes about an hour and half to get there. This place is around 80KM from Nellore . On your return to Nellore you may also visit Raja Rajeswari temple as well.
Enjoy your trip and I suggest you to start early from Nellore and arrive before sunset due to the road conditions.

The temple has ancient story about why they built there. There is a water fall which flows from top of the hill as seven steps as seven spots for water falls. Some people saying that no one reached the first spot of water fall which is top of the hill.
