I visit here with a family friend who lives locally. We didn’t pay to go inside as to be honest we could see everything we wanted from the road. The building is phenomenal and so worth the trip.

A well preserved and maintained ruin of an interesting and extremely large abbey. effective signage and comprehensive guide books. well worth a visit when in the area. Plenty of parking gererally but looks likely to be a bit problematic at peak times. Lots of pubs...More

We stopped at the Abbey for an hour or so. Beautiful, atmospheric and interesting. NB when I asked about the £3 parking charge, I was given £3 back at the shop straightaway on production of the car park ticket.

Worth the price of admission to walk with awe through these ruins. It is spectacular and well marked with information signs in each "room." The view of the blue sky through its amazing arches and windows takes your breath away. It is truly a spiritual...More

Many people park up and take photo’s from the road - fair enough. However, when you venture inside the Abbey, you truly sense the history and can imagine the lifestyle of the monks. Standing in amongst the ruins, you really get the scale of the...More

We were taken there by our Welsh friend. We really enjoyed wandering around, looking at the incredible detail. So good to see slices of history looked after and preserved. Great pub within walking distance and plenty of parking.

I think one of my better pieces of judgement is to purchase a Cadw card, as it has meant that we have spend more time in visiting castles etc that are on Cadw's list. We spend a beautiful summers day exploring the Wye Valley, and...More

Tintern Abbey on its own is stunning and relatively well preserved. But considering you have to pay 7 pounds to visit and you can get in Gloucester Abbey for free...Visit the first thing in the morning to get a parking space :) We didn`t and...More

Even though it was raining when we visited we still stayed a couple of hours. The time soon flies with so much detail to take in and, due to the weather, we did not get to explore around the grounds or Tintern... More
