I have visited every island and travelled extensively - the Fajã Grande is what always makes me come back. Beautiful nature in a very raw and special form. I have to see it to believe it.

This place, like the whole Flores island is pure nature. Don't expect to see many people, bars/restaurants, shops. If you come here it's to enjoy the nature. It's a paradise for your eyes and soul. The nature is amazing and the locals are very nice.

Picturesque town with the loveliest of people. Most trails lead to Faja; great for outdoor activities and the sunset was amazing.

Faja Grande is a place where a couple of walking trails start/end, and is a good location for this, with restaurants and bars for the weary and footsore. Papadiamandis is particularly recommended as cafe, bar and restaurant.

I suggest you to traveling by car from mosteiro because the view of Faja Grande from the above is really stunning! Waterfall hidden in the forest in front of the Ocean in the western part of Europe!

Quite a surprise of this portuguese corner in the middle of the ocean, looks like jurassic park! Friendly people, awesome landscapes and hiking trails and of course the wonderful cow beef :D
