My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jhargram Palace. The heritage building is set beautifully in lush greenery. Cows roam about in front of the majestic verandah. Local Bengali cuisine is fresh and delicious. The villages, rice paddies, and forests are beautiful whether you are driving or walking. We drove about an hour for a hike in Belpahari, and it was completely worth it. I will definitely come back with friends for a relaxing weekend out of Kolkata in a comfortable, rural setting.

We visited during the Christmas weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. First the negatives: 1) I was told that there will be a call one day before my scheduled visit and will brief. Nobody called and was incessantly trying to reach the manager on journey day when caught in traffic, without getting a response. Later learned that Manager was caught up in a personal emergency but someone else should have picked up the cuddles 2) there was a confusion regarding our room between the Manager and his staff which I must apologetically admit was also abated by my travel agent 3) nearly nobody was wearing mask and in asking some if them replied that they don’t need a mask Positives: 1) Nice scenic location and big rooms 2) all locations of tourist attractions are nearby and easily approachable 3) the 2 staffs Faizan and Bappa are very helpful and always smiling 4) hopefully a new smiling person in a supervisory capacity who has come in new and looks to be capable will be able to bring in changes for good

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, BEYOND IMAGINATION !!!! Recently I stayed Jhargram Rajbari (check in date 23rd December 2020, check out date 25th December 2020). I booked it through Jhargram Tourism website. In the booking slip, it is clearly written that check in time is 10:00 a.m. (can check uploaded photograph). From the booking slip I got the phone number of the Manager. Before the journey date I called the Manager to know whether the property is being properly sanitized. He assured me about proper sanitization, but surprisingly he told that check in time is 12:00 noon. I argued that I have written document which says check in time is 10:00 a.m., but he totally disagreed. That was a problem, but not so big for us. There may be miscommunication between Jhargram Rajbari and Jhargram Tourism. REAL PROBLEMS STARTED FROM 23RD DECEMBER 2020. On 23rd December 2020, we reached the place at 12:10 p.m. The second surprise – ROOM WAS NOT READY. I had to wait long. The manager and another person were present in the reception without mask. When I enquired, they tried to assure me that I can safely remove my mask also. Gradually I observed that actually no Covid protocol is being maintained there. Nothing is being sanitized. All workers were without mask, even the workers in the Restaurant. After entering the room we saw a display board which states “check in time 11:00 a.m.” (can check uploaded photograph). It was just a start. Many surprises followed one by one. Walls of the room were damped (can check uploaded photograph). Room, corridors were very dirty (can check uploaded photograph). By the way, I should say food was tasty. But the boys who were serving food were without mask. Don’t know how much hygiene in being maintained within the kitchen. Our room was just behind the reception. In the evening of 23rd December 2020 we heard loud noises from the reception, something is being thrown, someone or many were shouting too much. We were afraid to go outside the room. After sometimes when we thought that things were settled, we went out of the room and saw broken pieces of many things in the Reception. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ENVIROMENT! Next day morning, at around 5:15 a.m. we found that there was no water supply in the washroom. I went out to find someone, to arrange for pumping of water. In the whole campus I found none, not even a gate keeper at the main gate. After hopping here and there, for around 45 minutes I found a person. He arranged for pumping. WHAT A MANAGEMENT! In the room a phone number of room attendant was given (can check uploaded photograph), but never got any response from that number. Often it was switched off, otherwise no one received the call (tried for various reasons). We requested the boys in the Restaurant to arrange for simple bread butter in the breakfast at 8:30 a.m. because my parents had to take medicines in time. But they refused and told 8:30 a.m. is too early to arrange that. On 24th December 2020 we were out before lunch and returned to hotel at around 3:30 p.m. In the evening we asked four times in the Reception – who will take the order for dinner? Every time got assurance that a boy will come to the room and take the order. We tried over the phone number also (phone number of the room attendant given in the room), but it was switched off. At 8:30 p.m. when I asked a boy in the Restaurant about this matter, he told that he thought we were not in the room, that’s why he didn’t come to take the order. And he and others told that “NOW IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ARRAGNE FOR YOUR DINNER”. We wanted to talk with the Manager or the proprietor. Manager was not present in the campus. None of the family members of the proprietor came to meet us. SO MUCH HARASSMENT WE FACED!!!
