This was a heck of a climb through some switch backs in 100 degree heat. When you get close to the top it feel like it will never end. The last part opens up to a 360 degree view of Zion valley. This point is above Angels Land, so you can see people hiking to the top of this land... More

I don't think we knew what we were getting ourselves into when this hike began, but the 4 miles up are not easy... There will be switchbacks, watch your footing because it can get slippery, steep portions, and it'll challenge your soul. You'll wonder whether it's worth it... I promise you when you get to the point; it gets more... More

It's worth the hike. Bring plenty of water and energy bars. Easier to start from the top by zion ponderosa. If you have the stamina and don't mind strenuous hikes with drop offs you can take the hike from the floor of the canyon.

The first part of the climb was very nice, especially if you start out early. There's a beautiful canyon on the way, and then it gets hot and long, and when you get to the top, four hours later, you want something really spectacular. But while the view is nice, it is not spectacular. Then you have to climb back... More

The hike is accessed from the Weeping Rock trailhead and the shuttle drops you right at the start. 4 miles out and 4 back. I did the trail in the afternoon. Apart from the canyon section it is pretty much full sun all the way as you are basically on the sun facing side of a sheer cliff most of... More

Not everyone in our family was on board with doing the Angel's Landing hike for the fear factor (especially our 11 year old). Since we didn't want to spend the whole hike with a fearful child we decided on the Observation Point trail instead and it was very doable for all of us and still had amazing views. We actually... If you can, try to enter this trail from the Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort. It will shave off 2 miles of the total length. If you can't and you have enough energy, you can take the trail from inside Zion National Park. Its 4 miles each way. Its an exposed hike, and Zion can get very hot. The last bit... More

As another reviewer mentioned, taking this hike is a good alternative to Angel's Landing. Going at first light makes the experience more rewarding: It's cooler then with less crowds, and you will see light hitting various parts of the spires as it travels across the valley. This hike has a slot area, and can be used to test yourself to... More

We took the hike to Observation point as an alternative to Angel's landing, looking to avoid crowds on narrow path that occur at the later one. The hike was definitely worth it and the views in the end are magnificent. I'd recommend it to any fit person. Difficulty level: moderate to strenuous (as per European standards :)).

We visited Zion over Memorial day weekend and it was so crowded. We originally wanted to hike Angels Landing but once we saw the crowd there we decided to pick a hike that wouldn't feel like a Disney World Attraction. This is a strenuous hike that was not crowded at all. It is about 4 miles of switchbacks, and a... More
