This tunnel is amazing! It goes throught the mountain but at several spots along the way these big openings were carved out of the rock creating "windows" so you can see the incredible view. A must do experience.

This was part of the Zion-Mt. Carmel drive, which is a must see. I am not real fond of driving in tunnels but this was fine. Not real long and it helped that every so often the daylight came in through the vents in the rock. The whole drive was outstanding!

Such a neat tunnel through the mountain. At a mile long it is truly a marvel. Pretty low and narrow for today's RVs but still useable.

Amazing engineering feat, if you can take your eyes off the road (hah) you can see the viewpoints framed by the "Windows."

I used to avoid Zion NP because I do not like tunnels. But not anymore. After winding your way to the top, the tunnel is so neat with windows to see the light of day on the sides. If a bus or a big trailer is coming through you may have to wait, but not long.

There are two tunnels. One is short and the other is a little over a mile long (built in 1930). Driving through the tunnel is the only way to get from the east entrance into the heart of the park. Some large vehicles are required to pay an extra fee at the entrance station to have tunnel access - traffic... More

Winding trip through the mountains and canyons of the park. A couple of tunnels. Nice photo ops. Price is a little high, but I guess you're contributing to keeping National Paks open, so it was worth it. The town just before the park has some shops and places tom eat as well.

You have to drive it if you want to get through the East gate. I think it's a fun drive but you need to have your headlights on. The rangers do make sure one side takes turns with the other side driving through. That way there are no collisions. Just make sure you don't stop and you're fine.

The Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel is a mile long engineering marvel located above the Zion Canyon floor inside of Zion National Park. This Park is located in southern Utah about 160 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is also located about 300 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. This interesting tunnel was constructed between 1927 - 1930. The tunnel... More
