The tunnel itself is 1.1 miles long, with 5 cutouts/windows (very helpful since the tunnel is otherwise unlit). There often are lengthy waits, since larger vehicles require the rangers to run traffic in only one direction at a time. Along the way on both sides...More

Great scenic drive. Magnificent arch on the ascent. The tunnel, with cutouts for view, is a great feat of engineering. Be prepared, at times, due to the height of modern buses, there is only one way traffic so you may have to wait awhile for...More

This tunnel which was built early in the 20th century is iconic in Zion NP. After traversing several switchbacks out of the canyon you reach the tunnel. It is very dark with no interior lighting. Occasionally there are windows that look out into the canyon...More

After driving what seems like forever of switch backs and sharp turns on a rod with little or no guardrails, you come to the tunnel. Large campers, buses and vans need to be escorted and the traffic is shut down so you can get thru...More

We were driving a 30ft long, 11ft high class C motor home. It cost $15 to take it through the tunnel, but that includes a return trip through within 7 days. They run the tunnel with one way traffic and you drive down the center...More

While we entered Zion from the South, we left through the tunnel. I am glad we did. It was a beautiful drive. Traffic wasn't bad leaving, but it looked like it was going in.

A very scenic drive, but you need to be attentive and not claustrophobic (there is a long dark tunnel). They will stop traffic to accommodate large RVs and that can cause annoying traffic jams. The parking lot on the east side of the tunnel is...More

Very scenic series of switchbacks brings you up to mountain tunnel that seemed to be a bit less than a mile long. I think the tunnel dates back to the 1930s making it an impressive piece of civil engineering.

We were pulling a trailer so had to get e permit to travel through the tunnel. This process went very smoothly and caused very little inconvenience. The tunnel was quite impressive.

This was our first view of Zion, we came from Arches NP. What a welcome!! Even if you come from the south, do yourself a favor and drive through and back to get this view!!
