I've been hiking this trail for years and can't rate it high enough. I return to it regularly because it is a fantastic workout that combines aerobic exercise with upper body work with all the scrambling. Views are spectacular. People along the trail are always...More

We hiked this trail with a group of friends and enjoyed our walk through the forest and enjoyed the variety of trees that changed as we gained elevation. At the end of the trail we were rewarded with a short scramble on giant well worn...More

This hike is for lovers of rocks and high places! This is the only true rock scamble hike in the park, other then the little Bearfence hike. Go early to avoid the crowds. Don't carry a huge pack as it is a detriment and don't...More

This is not an easy trail. Be prepared!!! That means lots of water, good hiking shoes, a hiking stick, and a go get them attitude is a must!!!!

Went with my son to just spend a day in the mountains and taking in the awesome views while we got some exercise hiking. The views are amazing and the trails are well maintained. Great activity as a family.

My wife and I are in our 60's and in a little better than average shape. We like to hike, but do not get to do trails like this very often. We did this hike on a day when the temperature was in the mid-60's....More

We (mid-thirties guy and gal) enjoyed hiking Old Rag on a Sunday morning in mid-October, but--and I'm prepared to have you think I'm a certain name TA won't let me say for writing this--we did not think it was hard, let alone "very strenuous", as...More

Went up for my birthday and decided to do the rock scramble side. It was really rough. If you do it take a lot of breaks and water. It will take a lot out of you. The view from the top was amazing though.

We enjoyed hiking Old Rag Mountain but it was a workout! The hike took us 4:40 min to complete and we are pretty fit people. First to note: you have to hike about a mile down the road from the parking lot just to get...More

This is rated as the most strenuous hike in the park. Have a mind that the trail-head is NOT in the park. It's a bit of a drive and there is NO cell service in the area of trail-head. Have this is mind if you...More

If you do the whole circuit loop it is 9 miles!! Go with good hiking shoes, sticks, and plenty of water. Be safe and have fun. It is a hard trail but worth it.

Hiking boots. You will probably be okay up to the top, but once you get there, there is a lot of places to twist an ankle. I doubt you would see snakes this time of year, or many bears.

Don't do it at night; it's not safe. Actually, since it is a national park I think they close the trail at night.
