We visited on a beautiful November day. We took the long path up and did the rock scramble on the way down. Don't underestimate the rock scramble. It isn't suitable for small children or anyone not in good physical shape. And be sure you have...More

We spent a couple hours on the Bearfence Mountain trail loop. It is a bit of a challenge but not vey long. There are some very nice views from on top of the ridge.

A more difficult although short hike which involves rock scrambling. The 360 degree view at the top is worth the climber.

Did this hike solo and my first rock scramble at that. It's a fairly short hike. I'm 4"10 and it was challenging to climb the rock at two points. Not a hike for those afraid of heights but otherwise loads of fun and the view...More

This is a family favorite! It is one of the shorter hikes but well worth it. I actually thought the rock scramble was scarier than Old Rag because it is a lot narrower when you are on the rocks. Great views from the top. If...More

This hike is a family favorite. Our older kids first did it when they were young. There are some dicey spots towards the end that older adults and young kids may have trouble navigating. But we love it!

Mile upon mile of beautiful scenery, greenery and blue tinged mountains as a backdrop what more could you ask for? The view over Bearfence Mountain is awesome. The sky line drive is a must. Don't miss out on this, it's nature at it's very best

This was such a fun hike! About a mile, so it's short and sweet. It looks daunting at the beginning as it's really uphill! There is quite an elevation gain, with trail, and stone "stairs". We did have to climb over a tree on the...More

We start with this hike. Not too long for a first experience and my kids love the rock scramble. The view is worth the climb.

This is a fairly short hike in distance but half of the trail is climbing up and over large boulders. The 360 view at top is worth it, but it is not a flat plateau.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Is there any way to do part of this hike so that our one kid who is afraid of heights will be ok? Or will we encounter the scary part right away and have to turn back?

I just hiked this mountains this weekend & my 10 year old twin girls are DYING to do it! I plan to take them to the first set of rock scramble before the scary rock scramble with the super tiny cliff & let them enjoy it that... More
